Tailgate window motor rebuild

My rear window motor works but as it gets to within say 5" from completely closing it gets real slow and needs a "hand to get it up".
Would rebuilding the motor make things better?
I haven't opened up the tailgate to look inside yet

I'm gonna have to try this on my '74 T&C. Its window moves more or less OK within the top few inches of travel but I don't dare try to open it all the way. The motor seems strong.

Lube: a secret to easy movement.

I stumbled across this post while browsing FCBO looking for something else. Like going to The Home Depot for one item and ending up spending an hour or two there.

hi this is my new to me toy. Just got it and the tailgate window isnt working at al. Also my rubbers on the bottom are shot,any idea where to look for rubbers? And wil the window only work with the switch on the dash or wil it go down by key aswel?

Tailgate window should go up and down by the switch on the dash, and the key in the lock.

I believe that there is at least one safety switch to prevent the glass from going up or down if it thinks the gate is open. Your car has the dual gate feature, yes? Opens to the side like a door, or opens flat.

A factory service manual will help.

Yes it indeed has the 2 way door.
I stil need to open it up to see whats going on in there.
Any idea where i could get a manual for this old lady?

There is an adjustment on the motor itself too. My wagons are both slow in the last few inches of shutting and need a hand too. Lubrication does help. It does seem to close better after sitting in the sun all day too.

Check and clean the electric plug/connection, while your in there.
