Taillights quit working

@lemondana — Just found this thread. Glad to know it was just a fuse. Would love you see more pics of the car.

I'm back! It's kind of a funny story as to why the fuse blew. I had the cigar lighter out because I had been using the plug in GPS. Like all of us, I had some crap in the ashtray, little screws, pennies, more fuses. Well-one of the little screws must have bounced up in the lighter receptacle when I closed it, and the next time I plugged the GPS in, it jammed the screw in shorting it out. Thanks for all the input!

I'm tempted to re-wire the cigar lighter with a dedicated wire from the battery, properly fused and such, just to segregate it from the tail lights, brake lights, and sundry courtesy lights. I have an auxiliary triple "lighter socket" already hooked up for sundry widgets, and blew the 20A fuse for mine about 2 weeks ago, due to a phone charger's crap chinese plug breaking and shorting in the cigar lighter socket. I have a few good fuse buses for add-on circuits, so I won't have to deal with random fuse holders strung chaotically under the dash or hood, in forgettable locations. Minimizing the load on the original harness helps extend its life.
