Bill,
What source did you use to find these numbers? Thank you for the information.

That's a beautiful car and color. Where did you find it? Forgive me if you've already shared this information.
I found it in Edmonton Alberta. It was a one owner car up until about 2018, when the dealer from Edmonton bought it from the estate at auction. I bought it in 2019. The original owner purchased it new in Calgary Alberta, where it spent it's whole life until the Edmonton dealer. I think that the original owner would appreciate that the car is back in the Calgary area.

It looks to be in very good condition. I love the lines on the 65 Polaras. The Elwood Engel design. I own a 65 Polara and have never seen another one in person much less a convertible. They are quite rare. It's great to see one like yours in such good condition.

I know this is an older post, but I am curious if anyone here owns a very nice 65 880
convertible in #2 condition that wound up in Ohio around 15 years ago. It may have had a Pennsylvania title before that. The car was Burgandy red with white top and red Interior, Bucket seats. it also had 15 inch rallyes as seen on Cordobas and full size early 70"s. It had a 68 383 engine with HP exhausts. If So i would love to hear it is still around. I owned until 2000, when it went to pennsylvania.
Thanks in advance!

There is a 880 group on facebook that I belong to that you might want to look into if you are on facebook. Its call Dodge 880/custom 880.

So found this thread while searching a strange ad that I found.

In a nutshell, found a '65 Dodge Polara 880 convertible that said it was packing a 440, but the 65 didn't have a 440 (that I know of). According to wikipedia it'd be either the 383 or the 413. Anyone have any thoughts on what they're on about? Could be Canadian which finding info on is like pulling hens teeth.

Is it a Canadian built car? The dash is the dead giveaway. It's the same as the Plymouth Fury.

426 Wedge was an option on US built cars, not sure if it was available in Canada or not.

Not sure if it's a Fury dash (I havent' seen a Fury in a really long time), but it look similar to the one above. Same seat too with a seperator in the middle that can move down.

For the Canadian-built 1965 Dodge C bodies, and Canadian Plymouth C bodies, the base engine was the 225-cid "Leaning Tower of Power". And that included all sedans, hardtops, wagons and convertibles. The same held for 1966.

So, somewhere out there is a Canadian-built 6 cylinder 1965 Dodge Monaco convertible, hopefully for me. Also, the Canadian-built 1962-1966 slant six engine did not use the reduction gear starter. Chrysler Canada purchased Canadian Prestolite starters, basically the same units used before 1962.

Other engines for 1965 included the 318 poly V8, 383 with 4-bbl, and 413 with 4-bbl. 1965 was also the first year for the poly 318 V8 in Canada as Plymouth and Dodge used the poly 313 V8 from 1958-1964. The 413 was replaced by the 440 for 1966.
A Canadian Monaco 'vert with a 6 and 3 on the tree....

For the 1965 Dodge convertibles, production for the U.S. consisted of :
Polara - (AD2L-27) - 2,661
Custom 880 - (AD2H-27) - 1,416
Total US - 4,077

C-body convertibles for the Canadian market were built in Canada for the years 1964 to 1969. Similarly C-body convertibles for the US market were built in the US for the years 1964 to 1969.

For Canada, total Polara 880 convertible came to (AD1/2H-27) 1,267. That figure also includes Canadian-built Monaco convertibles as the 1965 Canadian Monacos were series H, same as the Polara 880.

AD1- Six cylinder C body Dodge (225 slant six - Canada only)
AD2 - Eight cylinder C body Dodge (Base engine - 318 V8 in Canada with 383 V8 in the US. 318 V8 base engine on US Polara 318 sedans.)

I believe there were Polara 440 convertibles also?

Those are all Polara convertibles as the 500 was an accessory package - A325 - Polara 500 Sport Package. The package included bucket seats, short console, tachometer, deluxe wheel covers, padded instrument panel, and "Polara 500" nameplates. Available only on the Polara 2 door hardtop and convertible models.

The Polara 500 was an accessory package again in 1966 but became a series with the 1967 models. The 1962-1964 Polara 500 models were a separate series and the final Polara 500 in 1970 was a trim option on the Polara.

In Canada the Polara 500 was a trim option on the Polara convertible and hardtop in the latter half of the 1964 model year. The 1967-1969 Canadian Polara 500 was Dodge's version of the Fury II in 2 dr hardtop, 4 dr sedan and 2 and 3 seat wagons. The sporty Canadian Dodge was the Monaco (1965-66) and Monaco 500 (1967-69) in 2dr hardtop and convertible with Sport Fury seats. The 1970 Canadian Monaco 500 was basically a Dodge version of the 1970 Sport Fury (no S-23 or GT versions, though).
But you could get buckets/console on the 65 Polara 880

The taillights for the Polara and the 880 have some differences. On the outside they are the same. The reflector on the Polara is silver with the bulb mounted on the front. The 880 reflector is flash chromed, and the bulb is mounted on the bottom. It probably gives a nicer effect.

Hi Bill,
Where did you find these numbers? Is there a Chrysler database? I have an American 65 Polara convertible and I would be interested in the source of this info.
