I saw a Chrysler with the fuel injection still intact a few years back at the Fall Fling in Van Nuys.
And it has AC too!!I like those little Champs and Colts. Its too bad there hasn't been any improvement past 50mpg in the last 30yrs. Last car that was just engine (no electrics) which realistically got over 50mpg that I know of was the Geo Metro's of the mid 90's. With insurance companies pushing govt for more safety regulations, I guess cars are just too heavy and complicated.
Even the 2022 Fiat 500 Twinair gets only 57mpg (US gallons)...and its a 2 cylinder!

There is a facebook page devoted to these. Also some info on them on the USAC stock car page on FB. One comes up for sale once in a while. They won some races against Foyt, Bobby Allison, Joe Ruttman, etc. These factory racing cars kits were sold thru dealers and direct connection. I think only 1974-1977, but you would have to put the car together (for insurance and lawsuit reasons). Only about 100 kits were sold. These weren't legal for the street and I don't think the complete cars came with a VIN. I guess all these were crashed or junked after racing, because I've never seen one for sale.
These aren't the 30 cars that were sold as Aspens/Volare which only had the "look" of a race car but no racing mechanical parts, which I posted previously.

From '89 to '91 Chrysler made the TC, a luxury two seater convertible with a plush leather interior and an included removable hardtop About 7500 were produced over the 3 year run. Three drivetrains were used. The rarest is the 4 valve per cylinder turbocharged 2.2 liter with a 5 speed, with only about 500 made for the '89-'90 model years. The 2.2 liter turbo with a 3 speed automatic was used initially andwas replaced with a 3 liter v6 with a 4 speed automatic. They were among the most expensive domestic cars with a sticker price of $33,000 in 1989. This car was supposed to be Chryslers flagship model. The redesigned Lebaron which borrowed styling cues from the TC was scheduled to follow a year or two after the TC was introduced. Production delays resulted in the Lebaron beating the TC to market by 2 years and at less than half the price.View attachment 552412View attachment 552411
It's a bit hard to believe that my Omni glhs is 36 years old already. All these cars are getting up there. Also they run OBD-0 computers.I would like one of these with the 5-speed. The remain affordable, although many have seen better days.
