The People Have Spoken...

I'll just leave this here...

Although my *** still hurts from the beginning of this thread, I am going out on a limb again and agree on this one. Weather you like him or not, HE IS OUR PRESIDENT. Now instead of complaining, do your research, and if he is bad use your VOTE in four years.

Why wait four years?

There won't be anything left to vote for if he survives four years.

I for one hope I am wrong. I have been wrong many times before and admit it. Those of you patting yourselves on the back because he got elected should slow down before you hurt your arm. There were essentially no opposing candidates on either side other than talking heads with empty promises which we have all seen over and over. I'm sure everything will be fine and yes he is our prez, will I be more poor in 4 years? Yep, that's a fact that even if my stupid dog is president would be true. I will actually be happy to have the stock market do well to bolster my meager retirement nest egg, keep my health insurance through a decent company so I don't lose my house, and get my Barracuda to make a couple of passes at the track. That will be a successful 4 years for this dummy

I'm not picking on you by quoting your post, but I hear so much of this sentiment and I just wonder what its based upon?

Things like the detention of illegal aliens are already against the law. Many people (don't know the number, but it's large) were deported under the previous President, although this is largely unreported.

The "fence" legislation already exists. City governments do not have the right to trump Federal immigration law. In fact, being in city government I can tell you that if you're not changing your street-signs to upper/lower case, you'll lose (and have to repay) Federal funding. And they do "inspect".

In the midst of terror attacks and threats, we should be vetting anyone who enters this nation... especially if they are fleeing smashed, corrupted governments with few reliable documents.

NAFTA has created an exploitation zone immediately south of our border. It has not created a large Mexican middle class, but it (along with other "deals") have ruined our own, as predicted.

I should be forced to provide heathcare coverage for other people at the point of having my assets confiscated? I already do to a certain extent, so Obamacare was just an expansion. And how good is a $5000 deductible plan that costs thousands per year?

These have been the major issues thusfar. Can someone please explain where all the fear is coming from? I know the answer is the mass-media who gins it up for ratings and clicks, but seriously how is your life being altered?

I can give a few examples of lives altered under the previous administration, but I'd like to hear and debate what the fears are going forward, not just this generalized "end of world" nonsense.

To be clear, I'm not fearful, I'm disgusted by the man.

As I stated previously in this thread, very little of what happens in politics/government affects me directly.

I haven't had health insurance for 16 years now. Total health issues cost is under $10k for those 16 years. So I'm ok with paying to not pay the insurance industry.

I have no interest or need for guns in my life. The NRA is really just a sales service for the gun industry.

My mother tried to raise me in the Catholic faith. She realized very early on that is wasn't for me. I've just never been able to believe any religion over science.

My religion is the awesome natural resouces of this planet.

I don't think black people or Muslims or illegals are going to kill me in my sleep.

Believe it or not, we are all humans caught on this one tiny planet in a huge universe. And too many of us are trying to accelerate it's demise by ignoring common sense.

As far as what disgusts me:

1. His comments about anyone that doesn't drink his Kool-aid.

2. His unethical business tactics which have consistently stiffed small contractors. (I'm a small contractor)

3. The fact that he doesn't respect the American people enough to release his tax records. Yes, I know it's not required, but it's quite obvious that he's hiding a whole bunch of stuff.

4. His blatant lies and dismissal of known facts.

5. His constant obsessing over his popularity and "crowd size". Why is that even important? Did anyone see his interview with David Muir? He can't let it go.

6. His complete disrespect and objectifying of women.

7. His asinine twitter tirades. I wonder if he's actually capable of doing that himself.

8. His complete lack of empathy and self awareness.

9. His lack of respect for his own wife. The clip of them and the Obamas going inside shows exactly where Melania rates in his world. I'm an old school guy. I open doors for women and offer them my arm when accompanying them. If they don't want or need the effort, that's ok too. We are nothing without women, and they are nothing with out us.

As I also stated earlier, what really saddens me about all this is that enough people bought into his "tell it like it is" bullshit.

That, for me, is the real tragedy in this whole thing.

I thought the American people as a whole were smarter than that.

I was wrong.

Fear is nothing more than a manipulation tactic.

And it's working.

John

What's the number that didn't vote, that could? 48%? I wonder how many that are belly aching, actually voted? What's the percentage of blacks that turned out for O vs H? Then there is the media...lol what a joke. I'm still in amazement over tv coverage of the election results, how H was so far ahead & yet she had failed to win hardly any states. Interesting times for sure.
I know ALL the illegals at my work voted for Hillary. Just like you and me, all the need is a drivers license which doesn't say if you are a citizen or not. What's going to happen? Their names are fake anyway so they're not worried about getting caught. But I live in republican controlled farm country so their votes didn't make a difference.

For their record I didn't vote. Just too tired with what I had to do on election day. I might have voted for Trump, but never for Hillary or Obama's legacy. I think ALL politicians are scum sucking a**holes out for themselves. The losers are just pissed they cantvfurther their agendas til they get their next guy elected. Works the same for both parties. But what do I know, I'm just a some college, factory working guy who spends his money on himself cars and just wants to relax after my 12 hour day/ 60 hour week. This country hasn't seen across the board prosperity since the 90's. Remember when finding a job was easy?

To be clear, I'm not fearful, I'm disgusted by the man. As I stated previously in this thread, very little of what happens in politics/government affects me directly.

I'll give you credit for a response, most people just do drive-bys. I have a little time to kill waiting to for dinner, so I'll engage your reply. And keep in mind, I'm not on his payroll or anything... I'm debating for debate's sake. He could well turn out to be a disaster, but I know that we're (the nation) discussing borders, immigration, trade, economy/jobs vs. the alternative which would have been endless drivel about race, diversity, entitlements, carbon footprints, gun laws, and the expansion of government. So given what might have been, I am grateful.

I haven't had health insurance for 16 years now. Total health issues cost is under $10k for those 16 years. So I'm ok with paying to not pay the insurance industry.

I don't quite understand the last sentence, but if you're saying you're OK without insurance, than God (or science) bless you. Plenty of people don't prioritize heath insurance and for many years getting started in my life, neither did I. But you no longer have that choice. If you didn't make the required contribution to the insurance industry this year you owe Uncle Sam a $95 to several-thousand-dollar penalty (assuming you cleared at least $16k) Don't pay it and they'll lien your assets. Resist confiscation and you'll be arrested. Resist arrest and you'll be shot. Does being forced to buy something you don't need or want from a private business seem fair to you? Don't make a car-insurance comparison... That gives you the right to use public roads. Obamacare is the first thing the government has required you to purchase just for existing, and that's an important distinction.

I have no interest or need for guns in my life. The NRA is really just a sales service for the gun industry.

Again, science-bless you. But a lot of good people can't afford to live in neighborhoods where crime isn't an issue. (BTW, I love Chief Craig. I hope he runs for Mayor then Governor. He also said...) And then there's that whole Constitution thing that says we may keep and bare arms, also held up as an individual right by the Supreme Court. Most of the world (except Switzerland) prohibits or restricts gun ownership, so you've got plenty of choice in this world. Diverse choices like China, N. Korea, Iran, Venezuela and more!

My mother tried to raise me in the Catholic faith. She realized very early on that is wasn't for me. I've just never been able to believe any religion over science. My religion is the awesome natural resouces of this planet.

Ok, well I don't recall any Executive Orders requiring you to be in church on Sunday. What's the beef? No more paying for foreign abortions? Damn, just when I was hoping we could find more ways to spend money in other countries he takes baby killin' off the list. I'm sure someone makes is good case for abortions in Kenya, but that's waaaayyyy down my list of things to get upset about.

I don't think black people or Muslims or illegals are going to kill me in my sleep.

Of course not! The gunshot or the point of the knife are going to wake you up before you bleed out, silly! But seriously, aren't you projecting? I don't even get the "black people" thing... Because he doesn't ***-kiss the mothers of attempted cop-killers? 30-years a very public figure in NYC, a dozen Oprah shows, Hollywood elite (OK, B-list) kissing his *** on the Apprentice and suddenly he's Strom Thurmond? Jesse Jackson doesn't seem to think he's a bad guy.

Believe it or not, we are all humans caught on this one tiny planet in a huge universe. And too many of us are trying to accelerate it's demise by ignoring common sense.

As far as what disgusts me:

1. His comments about anyone that doesn't drink his Kool-aid.

I'm not a fan of his Twitter wars either, but I think he generally conducts them with people who trash him first.

2. His unethical business tactics which have consistently stiffed small contractors. (I'm a small contractor)

You've got to know that nobody who does that much construction doesn't eventually have a dispute with a contractor. I went 42 years of my life without ever cancelling a check, but when I remodeled my kitchen the granite shop did such half-assed work that I stopped payment. Then I took photos of all the flaws and said I'd be happy to see him in small-claims and let the judge decide the value of his work. Never heard from him again. I'm sure he bad-mouths me.

3. The fact that he doesn't respect the American people enough to release his tax records. Yes, I know it's not required, but it's quite obvious that he's hiding a whole bunch of stuff.

Maybe. He's already said he pays very little because of the way our tax laws are written. To me it's a distraction. I'm guessing if it were illegal, the IRS would have Wesley Sniped him years ago.

4. His blatant lies and dismissal of known facts.

Well at least the media never blatantly lies. If you haven't figured it out, I'm pretty sure he does it to keep them chasing their tails. Now ordinarily, that wouldn't be too nice. But when you have a media-political complex that gives debate questions in advance, gets post-interview approval of stories, I can see the logic.

5. His constant obsessing over his popularity and "crowd size". Why is that even important? Did anyone see his interview with David Muir? He can't let it go.

See above. Without the meaningless debate over crowd size, this nonsense would be the headline.

He plays the media like a fiddle. Remember, they are the idiots who first talked about crowd size.

Some of these are redundant, so I'm grouping them together. But the nice thing is, his opposition was so very empathetic...

Fear is nothing more than a manipulation tactic.

I'm with you there!

John I was totally with you up until this point. What you seem to have lost track of is we are talking about a carnival barker politician here who is way smarter than anyone gives him credit for. He has brought into his fold all the fringe groups as well as most of blue collar working stiffs. It was his appeal too the lowest common denominator that put him over the top. For all his other lies he is the only politician who has had the balls and honesty to point the finger at unregulated corporate interests as the source of the demise of the U.S. industrial heartland. WTF would they pay a union wage if they can pay sweat shop rates in a 3rd world country? Free trade? Give me a break!!!! Is he legit? Who knows. But I'll take him warts and all over that bought and sold C&#T Clinton.

congratulations to your new chief economic advisor Gary D.Cohn

Despite Trump's assertions that he was going to stand up for working people it turns out that Wall Street and Goldman Sachs are still running the show - and the Trump administration. Among many other billionaires in the Trump administration is Gary D. Cohn, the departing president of Goldman Sachs and Trump's new director of the National Economic Council. Upon leaving Goldman Sachs, Cohn just received an exit package of $285 million. Yes, $285 million. And that's how the rigged economy and oligarchy works. The middle class of this country bailed out Goldman Sachs to the tune of over $800 billion. Goldman Sachs paid a $5 billion fine to the U.S. Treasury for illegal activity, as did virtually every other major bank. Meanwhile, no top Wall Street executive is prosecuted for criminal activity. Instead, the president of Goldman Sachs becomes the leading financial adviser to the President. And, to add insult to injury, Cohn and the Trump administration will soon end up supporting huge tax breaks for the rich while cutting Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. Can we stop them? Yes. But only through a powerful and focused grassroots movement which tells Congress to represent us all, not just the 1 percent.

I understand your point. And I agree that he is a carnival barker.

I'm just really astounded that people are waiting to see if he's going to do the right thing-whatever that may be.

The right thing is different for everyone.

Pointing out what's wrong/corrupt is cool.

I think it's merely another insincere distraction to keep the attention away from his or his handlers's goals.

Which is ultimately self enrichment.

I think he's too busy loving himself to do much else.

One thing that I've learned in business:

People don't necessarily need to be smart to be cunning and conniving.

John I share your concern but not your pessimism.

John I share your concern but not your pessimism.

It's all good.

I'm actually an optimist about most things. And I do try to find the good in people.

There's just too much history/evidence for me to invest in him.

Thanks for your input/opinion.

The reason for the diatribe on crowd size is not an ego thing. Its one more instance of proving the media's bias and their habit of misreporting the news and flat out lying.
Never let up. Point out their lies every time they lie.

what happened to the trump supporters here?
i think he has already done more to set the country on a better course than obama did in 8 years.
i don't buy into the media hatred of him. they didn't like him from the start. from the beginning of his campaign he thought the media is corrupt and biased. he is right. i feel he has been right about most things. he is unpolished and unorthodox, but he is not a politician. he is an extremely successful business man who has surrounded himself with other successful business people. (how they became a success could be questionable). only business people can fix they economy.
so far he has kept his word and started on most of his campaign promises(in one week!). that's more than any president has done in my memory.
as far as the wall, the 20% tax is only one of the options at this point. when he went to mexico while campaigning, the mexican president agreed to help paying for the wall. he has now backed out. the penalty could be a tariff on their goods imported to us. the average cost per american is said to work out to $120 per person per year if the 20% tax is imposed. not unreasonable. if you study your history, you will find that many former presidents have rounded up groups of people and exiled them. this includes fdr who rounded up thousands of japanese (american citizens) during WWII.
