The sounds of a poly

that's good point...wouldn't mind knowing the diff between the poly and a 318 myself

There's been lots written on poly performance. They have a long flat torque curve as shown in the dyno numbers:

May I ask what cam and heads on this small block monster?
Sorry to rekindle an old post but to close the loop on this question here it is verbatim from the engine builder:
"The camshaft in your engine is a Racer Brown ST-22 which has 242 degrees duration @ .050 lift and a lobe lift of .340 inches. That calculates to .510 lift with a 1.5 rocker ratio less the lash. The valve lash is .016 intake and .018 exhaust set cold-------but, I always set both at .014 cold----seems to be better to me."

Very nice car. Love the paint job. All I can see is the individual space beside the rear lights being black though. Would make that rear end stand out. Just my opinion though. That's one nice Fury. I'm in the middle of doing up my Poly to sound like that. Can't wait. Thanks for posting.

polyspherical combustion chamber

You may also hear it referred to as a semi-hemi. The new hemis are actually polys. Both a true hemi and poly have advantages over wedge motors in potential gas flow, all other things being equal, due to the arrangement of intake and exhaust valves. Wedge motors, the gases have to reverse flow so to speak to get back out, hemis flow across and poly is between the two. That description is a slightly exaggerated but that that's the gist of it. It's why hemi heads are gigantic and even poly heads are pretty large compared to a wedge.

Very cool. Just one word of advice (and because it's a pet peeve of mine)- turn the phone sideways so the whole car fits in the frame and it will also display properly on Youtube and everybody else's computer screen. Thanks!

OK here it is sideways.

have a poly going in a 64 sport fury will probably stroke it to a 402 with a 4 inch crank
