There is nothing sacred in this world anymore

that's tough news about the tools being stolen,
I had it happen back in 1982 and lost about $5,000 at the time.
I tend to keep everything scattered around to discourage any thefts because it would take too long to gather them all up!

Thanks everyone. I did check the pawn shops today with no luck so far. Been very busy trying to put an alarm on it so they will not be able to get me again. Hopefully by the weekend everything left will be secure.
From my little understanding of pawn shops, the tools even if pawned there would likely not sell until the ticket expired and then they might sell at a different location than where they were purchased. Everyone I know who has recovered stuff, except the concrete guy, has found it on CL or EB. I had a minor loss while raising the roof on my bus, Couple electric tools and an portable air compressor... The idiots left the better electric tools behind and took an old wrecking bar I had left to open a trailer on the property... all my extension cords and an electric grinder they could have cut the lock on that trailer in 2 seconds left behind. They pealed it open instead.

Last night someone broke into my garage and stole most of the tools I had acquired over the last 40 years, Well I have insurance, and at least they did not get my 300.Now for the fun of dealing with the insurance company.
Sorry to hear about that usually a lot of memories in a 40 year old tool box.

That sucks and I am definitely sorry for your loss. Thieves really do suck big time.

Just a note to say thank you and give you all the final update. I just replaced the last tool, the garage now has an alarm, with a camera inside, plus one from my house now trained on the door. If they are ever stupid enough to come back, they can smile cause now they will be on camera. Again thanks for all the nice thoughts and help.

Glad you had everything covered by insurance however the inconvenience it causes plus the feeling of being violated really sucks. I've been there.

This is what hangs up in my shop. It may not be much of a deterrent but it makes me feel justified in whatever I need to do.

One of my favorite movie quotes. To the young man dating his daughter after laying out the ground rules. "I have a gun and a shovel. I doubt anyone will miss you".

What movie?

Clueless

"Anything happens to my daughter, I got a .45 and a shovel, I doubt anybody would miss you."

I found it immediately too but didn't post it since I didn't actually recognize the quote. Just googled it and came up with same thing.

You know it is funny you guy's say that. That is exactly what I would do when my daughter, or step daughter brought a guy to the house to meet us. I would be at the kitchen table cleaning it. I figure ALL of us guys know what is on each others mind, and all say, "Not with my daughter you don't". I figure it is payback for what we did in our younger days.

True story, one was dad cleaning his hunting rifles at the kitchen table when i pick her up for a date.

As long as they treat them and your grandchildren well, what more can you ask for.

My step daughter's husband leaves a lot to be desired....
