Just curious...Was the car complete when he got it? Does he know where the powertrain went?

i didnt ask that specifically. He told me that he did not have the powertrain so i didnt press the issue.

When car was advertised on CL in Clarence NY (its not there now), it had its engine, the road wheels,etc. now it doesnt have the engine, or the road wheels.

so I dont know who ..prior owner in Clarence or current owner i just spoke to...was "successful" at partially parting it out.

i will ask current owner when i see him if he knows anything more, but it appears original powertrain is truly gone.

I contacted the prior owner in Clarence and I believe the car was complete at that time. It was only on craigslist a short time.

If I had to guess, I would say the current owner took the engine and either sold it or is using it in something else.

with that info, i'd agree with you. current owner is the one who likely sold the powertrain, or removed it for his own use. i will ask when i see him just to close the loop on this. thx

ps..i am not being "coy" about the location of the car. seller didn't advertise his exact WNY location so i dont wanna "out" him beyond what he intended. car is about 40 miles down the thruway west from Buffalo so it didnt go far from Clarence.

Bob, there was a guy just yesterday on Facebook with a 78 formal... He needed the wiper linkage bushing. I told him you had the same issue, and went to a 77 setup... true story
