I drove em at night a lot back when I was daily driving them but not usually on a lonely straight highway where the light would have been pretty useful at least not since the early 80's. On the weekends if it was night time I was normally out in the country and not driving that fast or far but it would have been useful to avoid the deer or a cow that had got out maybe.

I'm just curious how effective it actually is.

I have heard it is not, actually a disappointment. Especially with todays Halogen beams its not as affective as it may have been in 1970

If otherwise unmolested and rust free you could consider closing that cutout for the sunroof and put in a new vinyl top and headliner. Still better than advanced rust issues.

Or, if you are of a certain type of restorer, just replace the vinyl roof and headliner! Save the effort of repairing that steel! The only person that would know is the one who did it. Vinyl is watertight, no? :toothy2:

Thanks Dave ... for whatever reason it still strikes me as cool as hell. Was this option only available on C bodies? I haven't found much on them on the interwebs yet.

1969 and 1970 Dodge Polara / Monaco only...... You can find 69's with the Super-lite frequently. The 70' is another story, very uncommon to see a 1970 with it, finding a convertible that was originally built with one is impossible, I know of four of the 39 convertibles built.

1969 and 1970 Dodge Polara / Monaco only...... You can find 69's with the Super-lite frequently. The 70' is another story, very uncommon to see a 1970 with it, finding a convertible that was originally built with one is impossible, I know of four of the 39 convertibles built.
