I just bought a 66 Fury III at Carlisle, it is a 383 with three on the tree. We're planning on converting to a floor shifter and I have a Hurst Indy that should do the job. My question is no one is re-popping the C-Body standard hump. I contacted Stephan's in AL and he said good luck finding a used one from a parts car.

My local expert feels confident he can fabricate something the will do the job; any thoughts on this?

They do indeed repop the hump:

I still think the 68-70 B-body 4 speed humps could be made to work....but no one has been willing to step up and give it a try to my knowledge. I have a factory C-body 4 speed set-up...with tunnel in my "one day" pile. Maybe one day I will grab a B-body one and compare the two side by side.

Don't bother, Brian.
Meet the man who bought a B-body hump and tried to make it work.
Can you "make" a B-body hump work? Yes. But it ends up looking like a crappy hack job because, well, that's what it is.
Why try to make it work when you can just get a C-body repro hump. Cost?? Ain't worth it.

Yes, if you look at the two side by side, the overall shape of the TOP look the same but how the edges of the hump actually meet the floor pan are totally different.

You're a lot like me. Anything can be done. The impossible takes just a little longer.

But how different are the floor pans in a Formal, compared to the early C-bodies? I wonder if that had more to do with your troubles?

No. I went through all this with a '66 Fury.
Tried to mod a B hump. Looked like what it was. Mickey Mouse.Found the C hump and it was perfect.

Over the years I must have given that link to at least a dozen guys crying like a little girl "where can I find a C-body hump??????".
I don't think one of them bought one.
All talk - no action....

Guess they got the tooling from Harms? Wasn't it Harms who originally came out with these C-body 4 speed humps?

But your probably right...people get spooked off the hump because of the price.

Yes. Harms originally distributed the hump.
The hump was sourced by someone he knew and that source was using a guy in Peru to handcraft stuff.
Well, Scott and the source parted ways and RestoRick took over distribution.
Yes, they are hand made in peru by a craftsman and they are an exact copy of the factory stamping. I say the 250 bucks is cheap!

I agree. Some things are worth the money. But being inherently cheap...I would still like to find an alternative....;)

I used a 69 Road Runner hump the first time I put a 4 speed in a 65 Polara, didn't fit worth a crap. Had to seal it up with fiberglass, contours were so far off it wasn't large enough to cover what had to be cut out. The current one is using a 64 Fury hump and it's no better. Now they have the correct one and I have an original on the shelf, but I'm not gonna cut out what's in there until I have to redo the rest of the car.
