Hello, I am thinking of replacing my current tire size 225 75 R15 with 235 75 R 15 on a 1978 Chrysler New Yorker. Would I have any problems going with a wider tires?

Hi Fred - I have used this size tire on my 1978 New Yorker and have not noticed any issues. See the attached pic for size - scale reference. A number of us used to purchase these from Hankook - the Optimo H724 - but they discontinued making white walls. Recently for my 1969 wagon I installed 235-75- R15 manufactured by IRONMAN - RB-12 NWS 235/75R15 105SWW. You can find them at a good price on Ebay.

How wide are the white walls?

Zero issue with using the 235’s Fred… it’ll look better too. I have them, as most of us do on our NYB’s…

When I get around to replacing my 20 yr old Cooper Trendsetters, I'll be ready to bite the bullet for these. There around $315 a piece based on Milestar carcass and are available with the the thin double white wall from that era, few yrs earlier actually. They don't show them on the site but there still available. I'm going with 235-55/70 for a '78 coupe.
