So just wondering on how big I can go for tires on my Fifth Avenue. I've got 15" rims and I'm wondering what I can get away with, without rubbing of course.
I have the original honeycombs that came with the car when I bought itSeems like the steel wheels were 15x7s? Would mean a P225/70R-15 side should fit and not hit.
The factory tires were, IIRC, P215/75R-15 mid-width white walls. Being on the 15x7 wheels made them look wider, for a more substantial look of things. The OEM mid-width white walls were not "wide whites" but not the normal 1" white walls, either.

Honeycombs are for T/A's!"Honeycombs" are really "Snowflakes"?
These cars were a dog no matter what size tires. I never pulled out in traffic unless there was a huge break in the cars. Mine was a dog, and needed a slight down hill to hit 100 in it.Factree size is actually 20575R15.
With the 2.2 ratio rear gears ( despite a super low 1st gear),
I recommend 21570R15 for a good balance ( no pun intended)
of ride, handling and fuel economy.
Sure you can put on any size larger tire that will fill out the wheelwell but the car will be a dog driving around town.
I owned an 87 Diplomat for many years and tried all diffrrent sizes.
Speaking ftom experience, the 21570r15 worked the best.
