To help the "utes" understand...

There was one for sale locally to me in 1981 for $2,500 .. it was yellow

I had just turned 16 and wanted to go look and probably buy but Dad said no .. too fast with the 440. He tried to steer me away from the real muscle cars but shortly after didn't have a problem with me buying a 383 4 speed RR though. I bought a 70 and then a 68 RR within a few months. I passed on a 12,000 mile Hemi RR a few months later .. guy wanted 12K for it and it would have been a stretch but money could have come together. Man I wish I could change those decisions but most of us probably have stories like that.

Really? ...... I'm the other way..... Superbird over Daytona

An aerodynamic modification with an aerodynamically senseless Vinyl top that was necessary due to hide the crude Roof mods makes this car a Little absurd. At least the racecars didn't have them. ;)

Actually a pebbled surface causes laminar separation which increases speed. The roof of a car is roughly 20% of the car's area and could glean improvements at sustained high speed. The ideal rough surface is the dimpling on a golf ball, but any rough surface will give improved results over smooth.

Interesting article. The usual Vinyl top grain shouldn't have this effect in Ultra high Speed. They did some top Speed testing on German Vinyl top cars back in the day that clipped top Speed by a bit under 2mph with cars that went about 125 mph.

Petty ran a vinyl top in the 68 Daytona 500. Truth was it was to hide some bad body and paint work. It also started everyone talking that Petty was up to something.

It tore off at speed. Here Petty is hammering down the chrome himself in the pits.

I just wondered if I ever saw a pic of a NASCAR of the era with a Vinyl top. Not until now.
Even available as a modelcar.

That is my favorite Richard Petty pic. It speaks volumes about how NASCAR used to be and why Petty won so much.

You won't see Danica Patrick working on her car.... let alone kneeling on the hood with a hammer and taking care of business.

Maybe even just move it before that tree branch falls on it???

I'll always prefer the Daytona over the Superbird.

Richard is the King!

You could also consider it a benefit on driving practice though.

Or wearing boots.

Can't drive for **** but she is hot. Not anywhere near as hot as the Force sisters though.
