Guys and Gals I need more of your friendly advise.
Most of you know I have to 1968 VIP's Both 2 Door and Both 383. 1 with the 290 HP and one with the 330 Super Commando. Pics below. I have owned the white car since 1986. She needs some love. Needs trans rebuilt. Need new suspension and some other stuff.
The Maroon one I have owned since April. Basically fell in my lap. It is all original save a carpet and the trunk being trimmed out.
I love both these cars but would love to have a chunk of cash to put into my original one. I am thinking of selling the maroon one and dumping the money into my white one. Opinions? Ideas?

If you have to sell one, I say sell the maroon car. The white just looks better to me. Besides that you have a fairly long history (35 years) with that car and should know it well by now.

Both are really sharp looking VIP's !!!

One question, do you have all the lower chrome for the white one ?? in my opinion that is what really sets apart the "VIP" from other Plymouth Fury's even the Sport Fury.

In ending, I like the white one better than the maroon one and if it were me with your problem I would keep the white one but swap out the chrome moldings off of the maroon one to the white one. :usflag:

I do have the original Chrome from the White one

What one has the higher hp engine.
I am a fan of maroon

I say keep em both, I LOVE the Furys!! I do like the maroon one A LOT better in my opinion if I had to choose, and there are not too many Hi-Po Furys out there either. I'd love to buy it if you are thinking of selling, but I don't think the cost would be in my budget range

If you are thinking about selling the Maroon one though, I do think @FURYGT was interested in it if I remember from the first post you made on the car.

Clearly you have wanted and enjoyed the white car since you have had it all these years and the stuff that the car needs is minor in the big scheme of things. You can easily upgrade the 383 to the HP standards with intake, carb, cam, HP manifolds and dual exhaust...;)

Taking "history" out of the mix, the maroon car will always be worth more than the white car. Reason? The 383/325 engine in it rather than the more "expected in a VIP" 383/290. I would suspect there were more VIP 440s built than VIP 383/325s, by a good bit. Be that as it may.

Other than that? Which one has the better vinyl roof with no evidence of rust under it? Better interior condition? What work does the maroon car need soon? The same things which make the maroon car a quicker sale could also be the same reasons that you might desire to keep it.

Obviouisly, you liked the white car enough to buy it back then, which I understand, but giving that it now needs work to be the best it can be, perhaps that might be a reason to let somebody else take that on? A "business decision" rather than not?

Maybe put a price on both of them, individually, and let the first one to sell be "the answer"?

Just some reality issues and thoughts,

I don't know if I could ever part with my Fury III to buy something else. I have owned it since 1982, so I see where you are coming from. From my perspective I love your burgundy VIP because: 1- That is such a rich looking color on any Mopar, but especially the C-bodies and Imperials. 2- My dad's '68 Fury III sedan, the car I grew up in, was that same color. Tough decision for you. Or just keep them both, it's only money! LOL! :D

Though I personally prefer the burgundy VIP, I think you should keep the white one since you have owned it so long.

You didn't tell us what you paid for the Maroon car. Since it's original, HP, therefore numbers matching, if it's in rust free condition, I'd list it for $10000.

It is indeed all original. No rust or any signs of work anywhere I can find. have had couple body men comb over it and they agree. Apparently been garage kept all its adult life.

Which one, if either has A/C?

If you don't have the VIP specific moldings for the white one that is going to be a problem if you want it to look correct. '68 VIP moldings are VERY hard to find and expensive when you do find them.

Two things to consider and yes, I love the Maroon VIP.

I know I've already stated that I like the white one better, but what condition is the white one in? Is it currently drivable and needing basic repairs like bushings, or are you looking at major repairs that will be sending the white car to a complete restoration? I think having a drivable car is important to keep interest in the car, but that's just me.

Maroon one has AC and is complete and works. White does not have AC. I do have all the trim for the white one.
