Anyone else come under threat of tornadoes today? We started receiving warnings around 4pm. Not long afterward, this went over my house. Kinda scary.

Those are low hanging clouds, like finger clouds. Do you have a weather warning radio or the like? Maybe attend the next National Weather Service weather alert class. It will help you in identifying the types of weather and be a good "Weather Spotter". I have attended several of these in my 32 years as a 911 Dispatcher. In my time, I have worked too many Tornados to count.

We past one last year forming just outside of Washington, NC. exciting but scary at the same time.
It's the closest in real life we have gotten to one.
i got a video of it on my cell phone still.
I'll see if i can upload it.

Had one touch down 20 miles north of me Friday. Little sucker, it just tore up some landscaping in a rich neighborhood.

Seems like the earth is fed up.....

Three for me, two during Katrina in 2005 that ultimately forced a relocation to Tennessee, and an F3 here in 2011 that put the shop under repair for five months.
No more please!

I’m lucky. We had several warnings yesterday and some really ugly skies, but it passed. Oklahoma got hammered and Ohio got hit too, plus there’s flooding all over. Pretty bad.

No thanks. Tornadoes scare me. Unpredictable bastards. We had one hop over my neighborhood about five years ago. I was standing at my basement steps watching the clouds over the back yard go one way while the clouds at the front went the other. Hopefully that's as close to a tornado that I ever get.

I heard a guy on the radio today say that you guys in the effected areas have another few days of this weather. Good luck. It's probably a good time to straighten and clean up your basements.

Closest I came was less than a mile from the Edmonton tornado of 1987 that killed 25 people. I kept the newspaper.

We get a few in Mi every year, nothing like the Midwest though. The worst storm I ever saw was in 1989 while I was stationed at Sheppard AFB in Wichita Falls, TX. It came within about 8 miles of base, 5:30 in the afternoon and it was as black as night. I have never seen it rain as hard as it does down south during a large storm.

was this the one that dropped onto the fairgrounds in the summer?
No this one tore through the east side of Edmonton coming dangerously close to a couple oil refineries then as it was leaving the city it tore up a trailer court. That’s where most of the fatalities occurred.
Sorry for the upside down pics not sure how to fix from my phone.
