The turn signal cam in the tilt/tele 1967 Imperial is notoriously fragile. I don't think there's anyone on the Imperial Club list with one that functions right.

There's a rumor that the columns were made by Saginaw, and therefore a GM part might fit as a replacement. Anyone know anything about it? (And no, a C-body part doesn't fit, apparently.)

Okay, turns out this was wrong info.....

In case anyone finds this thread by searching, as of this year, Shee-Mar makes a new, replacement cam for '67 Chryslers. It fits the tilt/tele column (they may (probably?) make one for non-tilt, too), but it fits a different turn signal lever than is on Chryslers. It can be made to fit, and costs about $115, rather than $350 for an original piece. There's a thread on C-Body Drydock about fitting one if you want to look it up.

Shemarr sm107 is 68 with marker lamps, mopar sells a red one to replace the white one much tougher they are hard to come by but can be found for 200 bucks, I have installed a sheer mar for 115 bucks or so, but the plastic it's,s made of distorts due to the heat from the contacts, dur to the whole lighting running through the switch it needs to be made of adorable resin or the heat from new bulbs will distort it and you will be replacing it again. I have though of running led replacement bulbs and using an electronic flasher, about 80 bucks out the door , to replace the system. LEDs will require less amperage thus less strain on switch, in theory, the electronic flasher will compensate for the lack of amperage and increase voltage.

Plus they will be brighter lamps

A close friend of mine is a flucking surgeon when it comes to these things and can rebuild the '68 units after they fail. He rebuilt my '67 before we had any '68 cores but it didn't last. We now have a '68 ready as a spare and the goods to rebuild another '68 on hand. What is the part number for this one that is supposed to work for our Imp tilt/tele's?
I know they could be brighter but I can't imagine looking to make them brighter, what a beautiful set!

According to this thread:

"...Their part # for their switch is SM-107 at $104.84 each..."

You might also take note of the tool he built to pull the column apart. That appears to be one of the sticking points to this whole process. On the Imperial Club site, in the archives, there's also a picture of the correct Chrysler tool, and the modifications needed (the tool won't fit the Tilt/tele column as-is, and needs to be cut down).

I haven't decided if I'll buy one for the future, in case they stop making them.

I've also thought about LEDs in the rear to reduce the current load through the switch. You can also do relays, but the problem is that eliminates the cornering light function. They're not very useful, but they are cool, so I don't want to lose them.
