Is there a reason to have the wires go thru the column jacket? I am having problems getting new wires through the column even with thin wire attached.

Well you kind of have to reduce the diameter of the terminal group all stacked together. Try to stagger them and masking tape them as a flat group. Tape the fish wire right to the group of connectors, may take a little fiddling but they should pass down through there not to badly.

Got the new switch installed. Everything seems to be working. Turn signals brake lights emergency flashers.
