voltage regulator date code

When replacing the voltage regulator, do I need to match the date code?

Date code relates to production date of the item, not what's inside the unit.

As I recall, the MP unit is "restoration correct" as to the last ones that Chrysler produced, according to a MP rep at a seminar at Mopar Nats, one year.

Do you need to? No. Should you? Sure. Keeps it looking OEM under the hood.
