That dudes music is really annoying to me, like nails on a chalkboard. Way to happy and corny.

All of his new music is terrible & has been for 5 years or so. You have to go back to his Spearhead days to get the good stuff.

Which war? I never knew there was a ratrod definition declaring it had to be after a certain war........
I was talking post-WWII. It just seemed odd to me to see that term on such a new vehicle. Ratrod makes me think of (as a result of seeing them being referred to as rat rods) some sort of A-Bucket with an early Hemi or Caddy V8 on loud headers and lacking safety equipment and possibly a roof. Something like the sailor jerry car minus the bling and marketing.

It works well on many 50s cars.....

I feel more to call them Customs, the Hot Rod moniker somehow to me is also connected to model years between the WWs which were mostly altered however post WW2. Ended together with exposed running boards IMHO.

Funny how there were no Rat Rods back in the day that these "rat rods" are supposed to emulate.
Rat Rods are a total myth, a fad, a marketing gimmick by all the SEMA vendors, and a convenient buzzword for selling shitboxes ruined by immature assholes with access to too much leftover paint.

My favorite rat rods have very little paint on them, maybe some clearcoat but no paint.

Initially a “Rat Rod” was something that was cobbled together with miscellaneous parts not necessarily the same make, generally stuff you either already had or acquired at a low cost. It was a way of recreating the concept of the “hot rod” of the 50’s where it was more a function of operation than looks. Often these cars would be primered only because they were never finished enough to be painted or it wasn’t in the budget. These cars would generally take on a creative look as a result of the eclectic collection of parts used some of witch may never have been from a car.

As time went on the type of cars being done and the amount of effort and money increased. Somewhere along the way the paintjob became more what people identified with so anything that is satin black and a little retro is now a rat rod. So yes originally Rat Rods were prewar (WWII) but that movement was in the 90’s so even then there was a lot of room to play with.

You guys see what they did on Discovery Chanel last night on that show "turn and burn"? That Newport looked like **** in my eyes. Flat black, metallic red roof, slammed, and glass packs. Five grand took it overseas. I can't find a photo of it online yet.

I agree one of top ten worst, rat rods don't have fenders period or paint, both cost too much and don't help performance .

Oh yeah I forgot there should also be some chubby girls with the wrong clothes for their body and a lot of tattoos nearby LOL.
