The VIN number you have requested for the 1970 Chrysler Newport is: CE27L0C106043

You guys check me, but it seems this TNT was for sure a transplant by the VIN number.

However, it seems the TNT was available in the Newport, correct?

Thanks.

That's a 383 2bbl car, early production too. Nice car, but it has really been "retouched." The interior has been replaced, the wheel covers are wrong, the AC was worked in well, but that wheel on the trunk is just... bad! It doesn't even match the covers on the wheels. Also, the ad states cruise control; while the signal stalk has the controls, I do not see it connected to the motor at all.

But, if you're looking for a nice, non-stock, '70 Newport ragtop, this one is not bad!

yeah, weird, since it looks like it could have been a transplanted TNT, and if it were a '69, the L code would be a TNT. Anyway, just a dumb observation.

LOL! Can you guys tell from the pics or is there any proof that that is a 440? Could they have just swapped to a 383 4 Bbl intake and stuck that air breather on there? I was trying to judge the distance between the exhaust manifold to column, valve cover to brake booster, but pics can be deceiving, depending on camera angle. Just a thought, there are a lot of unscrupulous sellers around and people who don't know these cars.

Why do people put those fake spares and continental kits on? They almost never look like they belong, just look like an add on. I can't really say that I hate it, but can't say I like it either. I do know I wouldn't have done it. It worked on the '60, but the trunk lid was lower and sloped downward. Even if the factory had put it there on these cars, I think it would look wrong. What do you guys think? Would you like it if the fake spare was factory or would it still look out of place on these cars?

yeald be right about the engine, other than i think it was orange but doensn't prove much. I say no on the continental kits, maybe on a 50s T-bird or something else along those lines...

The kit makes sense with very few cars, and that's about it esthatically fail in practically all cases.

Why o why that Continental style hideous thing..... Tho about engine, its a big block. I wouldn care if its number matching because big block is always good. Ofc bonus if its 440cid. But arguing about 350 vs 375 useless.
Drum brakes... but has a clock :)
But that Sanden style AC compresson says they used money on it. Its not a cheap conversion.
Rust free and straight body always beats wrong engine etc.

Yes, L in '69 is the TNT, but is a 383 2bbl in '70. The VIN is "LO" - 383 1970. In '70 N was 383 4 bbl (quite rare in a Newport), T standard 440, and U was the TNT.

Not a dumb observation, a good eye!

Judging by the lack of clearance with that HP exhaust manifold, I'd say it's a 440. That's the reason why I dislike those manifolds. If only that AC compressor was not in the way!

Sad 80's JC Whitney continental kit add on. They came in 2 styles...this Caddy has both.

Well, at least they didn't do that to it.

Yeah, clearance is already at a premium. The HPs do look cool though. I just have the regular manifolds on my 383, so I can't really compare the pic to mine.

I remember seeing that Newport for sale about a year ago if I remember correctly being sold by the owner and not a dealer. That drunk trunk disk is something that I will never forget seeing !!! :wtf:
