Just got a 1966 New Yorker. Need some collective mind help.

Location: Philadelphia

Love the car so far.

Need a bunch of parts and help figuring things out.

Was surfing this forum for days. Cant find a place to get a new window motor for my rear door. Need a spare tire that would fit over the disc brakes that I need to figure out the pattern to. And about a trillion of interior parts. Starting with seat upholstery for benches.

Hello and welcome from Christchurch NZ.

You've come to the right place - as far as upholstery (and carpet) is concerned- one of the places with comprehensive details of what a car left the factory with is sms auto fabrics from Canby, Oregon SMS Auto Fabrics - The Largest Selection of Classic Auto Interiors

As far as parts are concerned a well respected vendor from Ohio that lots of us have purchased from is Murray B. Park, a link to his 1966 Chrysler parts is www.cbodies.com/categories.asp?cat=6

Lots of forum folks can advise you where to go, what to do, etc to get your car sorted. So welcome again and good luck.

If the window motor is there but doesn't function- it could be a wiring issue or perhaps the motor needs to be stripped and repacked with the appropriate grease - white lithium if I recall correctly- they often gum up after so many years.

Thank you so much for your reply. I just found a thread on SMS interiors and sent them a message. Thank you for that lead on the part place. I'm on it now. I own the car for under a week but it now has about 1k worth of work in it. Another $1500 worth is coming. But I love it more and more.
The window motor is super slow and doesn't have enough oomph to get the window up at all. I have to help it with my hand. There is also a inside the doors gasket type of thing that's same color as the interior. It's worn out and I can't figure out the name for it. I'll post pics of the car once I have it somewhat sorted out,but should I make a separate thread on those problems I need help with, or just dump it all here?

You're welcome, we like to help as we can.

Make a list in general discussions and it'll get most attention then the folks who have or had your car will say hello and provide advice as they can and answer what you need. Someone is bound to request pictures and they do help with answering queries.

Probably also available at SMS as well as many many others.

Now I know what it's called. Thank you very much. I'm waiting on that call back from SMS. Hopefully I'll be able to get everything in one shot. My front bench sit has tiny tips in it on the driver's side. Rear is perfect. Foam in the front drivers side is wearing out a bit, but far from bad. I'll get to the interior when I am done with everything else. I'll probably need 4k budget to get everything complete. Some stuff costs ridiculous amounts. For example drivers side window switch. Chevelle that I had before was free in comparison. :)
