We're heading for the next iceage!

They didnt take into account the Obama administration
Dave are you suggesting there's a group of politicians out there from any persuation that would do a better job? They all tax and spend just on different things. I've voted all over the spectrum up here in Canada but to no avail. They all have one thing in common. They are all arrogant once in power and they all screw up royally.

I voted for Ross Perot twice and Rob Paul twice....... you can see where I am at.

And yes, I believe there are people out there that can do a much better job because they have morals and pride

didnt say I maintain hope..... There is no way Jr won one election let alone two and this guy won two? No efin way, the fix is in ..........

I just know about a million people who can fix it, and thats just who I know

Buddy at work is also of the libertarian persuasion and he and I are always discussing the relative merits of individual vs collective rights. No easy answers in my book.

Heard a quote many years ago...wish I could remember who said it. Went something like this...."The people who truly should be running this country are unfortunetly smart enough not to get into politics..." or some thing along those lines.

True, most of the good ones don't want to drag their families through the election process, and I can't say I blame them.

This country was founded on the rights of the individual and limited government intrusion, though most in D.C. don't understand or just ignore that part.

I would really like to think that most politicians don't understand the vision of the founders, but I'm not that naive...

We need to fire the entire Congress and Senate.... Set term limits, give them a $401k instead of the insane retirement and benefits they get for doing nothing except screwing up the lives and rights of Americans that support the USA with taxes.

I agree 100%, they should also be salary capped. If they are choosing to serve the country they can make the average yearly salary. They also need to be subject to laws they pass, including the insider trading laws, and the unaffordable healthcare act.

They should make the same salary as our Soldiers.......and not 4 star General pay!

Way too complicated.

Just shoot them all and hide in Montana.

See, I'd even vote for Bob

They were originally part time jobs, with all the laws in place already, emails, and instant communications why can't they be that way now and the pay, benefits that follow with what they want these kids these days to start a family on, 7.25/hr 32hrs a week no benefits its a start.

I agree with term limits and holding them to the laws they pass on everyone else. But we have them doing a high level managerial position that's paying what again? $150K? Peanuts for what they're doing. Pitiful for the scale of what they're involved in. If we should expect high quality employees, we should pay comensurate of our expectations to attract such people. When you pay peanuts for giving access to so much, all you attract are those who know they can find a way to rob you of more than you even expect they could. And after all, what would it really hurt to adequately compensate those who shape the laws of an entire country? The Fed just prints whatever it needs on an on-going basis as we hurtle toward collapse.

The people going into the congress are pretty well off as it is, and they are going into a service position. If that is understood and their true intention is to serve their constituents, then the pay they receive doesn't matter anyway. Besides look at past presidents and other politicians, they are becoming multimillionaires on the backs of the taxpayers during their terms.

Look the the current (p)resident of the White House, his worth has gone from just over a million dollars to over twelve million in just over 4 years.

I don't mean this personally by quoting, but it's the freshest post and exactly illustrates my point just as so many others have done.

Upper management level positions are generally filled by persons whom are already well to do when taking up their post. They will continue to enrich themselves regardless of where the moneys come from. WE are paying them pennies and consider that they should be thankful for serving us. Since when does something such as partiotism come into your line of thinking about what affects your wallet and your family? Is this your primary concern as you walk the aisles in Wal Mart? What kind of employee is checking you out of the 20 minute line at Wal Mart? Exactly the same kind of employee who fills a Congressional position which pays absolutely Squat compared to private sector. The difference is in that Congressional position offers access to persons who Will pay for loyalty on an issue. And those people will pay again on another issue. Now back to Wal Mart, do you think you'd get a better quality employee who might take their job seriously if you were paying them a living wage? I see this constantly in the mfg sector. Employer's want the lowest common denominator of employee who will work for nothing. Quality suffers, micro-management follows, production suffers worse, business closes and blames the worker. Because they hired the laziest pos without the self esteem to demand a wage that they could find. Government, influenced by outside sources who've unlocked our doors and convinced us that "protectionism" is a dirty word since it doesn't benefit them, offers the business SUBSIDIES to take their jobs offshore. End result, you buy cheap crap made in foreign lands at Wal Mart, and pay for it twice since your tax dollars subsidized the ability of that product to enter our market.

All you people keep screwing up with your wrong headed line of thinking and you'll be taking your orders from the UN soon enough when our own govt collapses from being run by the lowest common denominator that will work for nothing but what other outside influences will give them as perks of the position.

You want leadership? Then offer the pay which can attract an executive level person out of the private sector in the first place. We're paying for scumbags. And we're getting them.

You want reform? Then offer the pay which can attract a person of the moral capacity to recognize that perpetual rape of a corporation will leave it vulnerable and unsustainable.
