I am completely amazed how fast the construction went with building the pole barn.
The company crew that built it were always onsite when they said they'd be there and never had a problem if I wanted something changed or added during the build. Any minor concerns I saw that needed attention when on the property were handled quickly. (there weren't many)
The communication with them was always thorough and whenever a phone call was made, they always answered. This is a rare occurrence today. Most of the time I find myself leaving a voicemail message when contacting any business today.
If anyone in middle Tennessee is planning to build a pole barn or even a Barndominium, I would recommend checking out KD Construction.
The last thing that needs to be completed for this year is to have the overhead doors installed on the front & rear of the building.

Looking for lighting advice. I am adding on to my stand alone garage, currently 24x24, but adding on 24x30. In the end it will be 48’ deep and vaulted ceilings (10’ at the walls and about 12’ in the middle). I am thinking about changing up my lighting and was wondering what you have planned for lighting? I currently have cans with 100+ watt equivalent LED bulbs and 3-48” LED tubes along the edges over my work areas. I keep seeing the honeycomb hex lights and am currently looking into those. Still trying to figure out what I want. As I get older I need more light to work on stuff.

Looking for lighting advice. I am adding on to my stand alone garage, currently 24x24, but adding on 24x30. In the end it will be 48’ deep and vaulted ceilings (10’ at the walls and about 12’ in the middle). I am thinking about changing up my lighting and was wondering what you have planned for lighting? I currently have cans with 100+ watt equivalent LED bulbs and 3-48” LED tubes along the edges over my work areas. I keep seeing the honeycomb hex lights and am currently looking into those. I have a 100’ x 40’ shop that had 14 T5 fluorescent light fixtures (6 bulbs per fixture) and replaced them with 14 of these:

Adiding LED High Bay Light, 200W 30,000LM (150LM/W) 1-10V Dimmable, 6.56’ Cable with 110V Plug, Hanging Hook,U-Shaped Bracket,Safe Rope, UL Listed - Amazon.com

They are very bright and I shouldn’t have to replace them in my lifetime.

I had florescent lighting in my current shop but updated them to LED, and the place is much brighter. I too, need better lighting as I get older.
LED lights are the way to go IMO.
It will most likely make some difference whether or not you have any windows on your build.
Mt current shop has no windows, but the pole barn has four, which hopefully helps somewhat.
I will have to run a separate line to my pole barn because the meter on the house is on the opposite side.
The local co-op electric company sent someone out to survey the site and recommended running the new line to keep costs down, but it would also include a separate bill frome the house.
When l get down to TN next, one of the things I will do is map out where the lighting will be and where the all the outlets will be placed.
I plan to install one, maybe two ceiling fans to help circulate the air. With the metal roof, it's going to be hot on summer days.
BTW Marty, the new addition looks great. You'll be happy with the extra space.

Thanks Tim, by the way way I am down in Franklin TN right now now visiting my daughter. I am enjoying the high 60’s and low 70’s. A nice break from Fargo weather. My wife thinks we should find a rental for a month or two next winter down here. But am heading back to the cold and snow Tuesday. Am hoping for a few nice days (15-30 degrees and no wind) so I can finish framing and set my trusses, and get it enclosed.

Does it help lighting if the surrounding area is white, ie, ceiling, walls and such?

Marty, we've had a pretty mild Christmas season this year. It's 50° now, but the temps are going to plummet today to the lower 20's or upper teens.
From what I've noticed, the temps in TN are typically 20° to 30° warmer then IL.
Franklin is about an hour from me. Nice area. My wife likes that area for its shops and downtown area.
