What is the current State-of-the-Art Anti-Rust paint?

This is what I used, with not great success. However, I did the spray bomb version, brush coats probably work better

i haven't tried the spray cans. seems like the nozzle would clog instantly. the brushable paints like roofing tar. you also have to buy a cheap, but semi-good quality brush. foam brushes dissolve in about 30 seconds and with cheap brushes the bristles will pull out . there is no cleaning the brushes or your hands afterwards.

Woolwax blows Fluid Film out of the water and ZRC is used on steel hulls and such in salt water

I looked into the ZRC. They really don't say much about topcoating and (at least from their website) painting over rust is a no-go. I could probably learn more if I called their telephone number.

I've been using vinegar first to kill, then using just basic Rust-Oleum rust encapsulater. Haven't had any come through yet.

I used zero rust on my 87 newyorker without vinegar as a test, and it did come through. Possiblely because I didn't top coat, it's under the car all exposed to salt

So you’re saying to saturate areas like this with vinegar Before applying a converter or encapsulator? I’ve got a couple of patches that I’m going to weld on the interior pans of the Mobile Director car but just want to treat as best I can the other areas where there aren’t holes before putting the interior back in.

I have used KBS encapsulator and think that stuff is great.

For smaller parts that I have been sanding down, but cannot get all the rust off I have been using this. Then spray primer, then spray paint. I don't know how it lasts yet, but the converter seems to work better than others I have tried.

I've used in the past, SEM's Rust-Mort, por-15, and the rust-oleum dark red rust paint in brush form all with good results. If you had problems with the por-15 peeling, I'd say you failed to properly prep the surface beforehand.

I believe they have a primer step that a lot of people either aren't aware of or ignore. Like any paint system, prep is 90% of the job.

x2 on the rustbullet….never seen anything hold up as it dose...used it on my 91 gmc...goin on 15 years and is still as good as the day l applied it...that **** has balls
