What is this car?

Judging from his grammar, the guy is no rocket scientist.
That makes it likely he doesn't know what year the car is.

Nice? Solid? Drive anywhere? It's got a flat tire or two or more so how the hell does he know. Just needs a little paint and a little TLC! New top but messed up rear window. Out in the weather much?

People often don't know what year the car is and look at the paperwork, my 67 Barracuda was first sold in 66 so that is what it shows, nowhere is 67 on the registration or title.

Remember, up through 1968 or so, in many states, the vehicle was registered and titled for the year it was first SOLD, not necessarily the model year. If you bought a '66 Dodge on October 15th, 1965, it was registered and titled as a '65. If you bought a '66 Dodge that sat around on a lot and still on an MSO, that sold in February 1967, it was sold as a 1967 Dodge.

A good example of this is with Metropolitans. The last one to roll off the line was built in August 1960, as a 1960MY car. It was a pretty dated car by then, having first sold in 1954 through Nash and Hudson (and later, AMC) dealers. There was quite a stock of cars left in inventory nationwide, so the leftovers were sold as 1961 and 1962 Metropolitians. The last new Met was sold in early 1962.

Your right about how some states title cars.About 15 years back I had a 1959 Jaguar Mk I sport sedan that stated it being a 1960 on the title. This caused alot of confusion for some people because 1959 was the last year the Mk I was built, with the Mk II starting in 1960.From what I've read, there were a few Mk I's left over because alot of people were waiting for the release of the new Mk II's with some added improvements. Well,Patrick, I still wouldn't mind driving around in an old Metropolitan to use as a daily driver. There aren't too many old cars that can claim an average of close to 40mpg on the road. It's fifty years later and we still don't see that as often as it should be with all these new cars.
