Is the topic Whats It Worth frowned upon here on FCBO?
I want to be fair on price so I thought the forum members would be a good feed back on price.

The question was if it was bad etiquette to ask about value on this forum. Just checking thoughts and rules.
I thought I read posts about not doing, but I could not remember if it was here.
I did some searching, and it looks like it is common practice to ask. I will post the question in the appropriate sub forum.
Thanks.

I dont like them because they inevitably turn into "for sale" threads

I'm not so sure what more comes of a wiw thread than someone saying , hey, I'll buy that and then the thread gets shut down.
What else happens? I'm curious.

For starters, they end up in all different forums instead of the for sale forums. Then people complain they couldn't leave feedback, because its not in a for sale forum.

Then you get the snide comments and butthurt feelings.

What's it worth? Its worth whatever someone is willing to pay. There are many ways to figure out what most parts are worth. Example... Search ebay for the part and see if its there and what they are asking.

I want to be fair on price incase someone here wants it, when it comes to that. So yes it will be posted for sale when a fair price is figured out.

So in the end, we have hundreds of WIW threads floating around all over the forum. See, it isn't just about your thread, but the hundreds that will come after it.

why is there not a Whats it worth section in the classified section?
Seems a disservice to not have a wiw section. We are here on the forum to learn, one way or the other.
ebodies.org has one and it works great. Had a question today about a part. Answered and listed appropriately.

I know, falling on deaf ears. My opinion, for what its worth.

Could we perhaps try a specific WIW forum and see how it goes? I understand your hesitation, but how do other sites manage this potential minefield? You would certainly have to impose strict rules to be sure, and you probably already know where the problems are. And if it becomes an argument-prone clusterfoook, we would understand if you got rid of it.

Don't count on it Trace. We don't get things the other sites get.
Well, Scott, the owner of this site can do anything he does or doesn't want to do. It's his, period, and I'm 100% okay with that.

But I thought it's worth asking/discussing. Is there a way to have a WIW where the poster HAS to acknowledge he's read the rules, kinda like the Accept/Decline thing we see all the time on the interweb? No, that wouldn't work because it's probably the responders who start the fracas that Joey doesn't want to deal with.

Anyway, just thinkin' out loud.

Honestly, im busy with the upgrade right now. If you bring this back to me in a week or two I'll look at it more in depth and maybe we could get something done.
