Sherwin Williams is good but you can also check out Eastwood.I'm getting closer to being ready to paint. I had been buying my products--filler, primer, etc. at the local auto paint shop and was counting on their knowledge and assistance to help me get what I needed. However, when I went to their store a few days ago it was closed upWhen I look online the nearest paint shop is about 45 mins away which isn't very convenient. So now I feel adrift with no one around to help.
Can anyone suggest an online source/resource for paint? I'm going to need Turbine Bronze. I found an online cross reference of this color here. Would it be as simple as finding a reseller of one of those brands and ordering the code? i.e. if I was to order Sherwin Williams would I just give them the # 2490 and I'm good to go?
I also found some sites like this one "Express Paint", that specifically lists Turbine Bronze and sells the paint in various sizes up to a quart. But their paint seems to be a store brand so I have no idea if I should trust the quality.
Someone please bestow me with your automotive painting wisdom!

Cheapest color is white. Anything utilizing red pigment is more, and the by more red the more expensive. Plus all the materials are escalating in cost quickly. It’s just the price of needing a paint job. 20 years ago it was $350 or so for non red. 10 years ago it was $500. 5years ago it was $1100. Materials and methods changed too. The hardener is very pricey these days.
So I'm actually only now getting ready to buy my paint. I've been educating myself and am getting pretty good at talking the talk so went to the local Colors store which sells PPG products. I was hoping to get the basecoat in their Shopline Plus line, which I've read is quite good but still affordable. Unfortunately, they only have formulas to mix Turbine Bronze in their Shopline (economy) line and their Deltron top-of-the-line paints. For Deltron, they quoted me a price of ~$1500 for 1 gallon of base + 1 gallon of reducer, which is somewhat more than I want to pay. For Shopline, it was $391 for a gallon of base + gallon of reducer. The guy behind the desk felt that economy Shopline would do a respectable job but admitted it would take more coats to achieve coverage.
What I think I'm going to do is use the Shopline for everything (including the basecoat) but use SPI Universal for the clear (Southern Polyurethanes) as I've seen many people say that it's excellent and the price is very reasonable.

So I take it you don't think the Shopline is going to give a good result? Do you know this from experience with the product or just a general sense that it's cheap so it probably isn't very good. I won't say I don't have my concerns, since I know from experience you get what you pay for. This car is a driver so I'm not going for show quality but I don't want paint that's going to cause me headaches.
A third option would be to take them the trunk lid so they can scan the underside and try to do a color match with their Shopline Plus brand. I'm pretty sure that's still the factory original paint there, but it seems like scanning and color matching a metallic would be pretty tricky.

I honestly do not know. I apologize if my comment was a little vague. That is quite a difference in cost between the two though. Both are expensive. I would get more info on their differences from the pros, and it might be good to look into other options besides PPG. If this is just for the base coat however, perhaps it doesn't matter, since the clear coat will be taking the abuse? However, if (hypothetically) it takes 4 quarts to paint a car with the Deltron and 8 quarts with the Shopline, that might make a difference.
I am now researching a different course of action. Now I'm looking into using base from TCPGlobal and the SPI products for the primers, sealer, and clear.

TCP Global for BC turbine bronze is $582 which isn't bad price wise or the paint. I used their AU paint for my 73 Polara.
Yes, all things considered it is quite reasonable. Were your results on the 73 Polara satisfactory?

I would recommend you go with the product that will provide the absolute best results in finish, durability and quality. You are spending a LOT MORE $$$ (and / or time if you’re doing the prep and bodywork yourself). Saving a couple hundred bucks on paint may bring disappointment later and it’s not worth it. Period.

Quite, and I painted the car in 2013. Paint looks the same as it did the day after.
