ok this is getting a bit irritating. ive been to several car shows so far this year and at every show mopars are the minority, espically c bodys. im soooo sick of looking at camaros and mustangs. bring out the heavy iron!! any mopar shows comming up around Wisconsin?

My sense is a lot of Mopar owners and probably most older car owners don't like the hassle of taking their cars to shows, esp once they've been there and done that

The sheer number of Mustang and Camaro sheeple/owners is mind boggling and there's never a shortage of new sheeple coming up and wanting to go show off their camaros and mustangs with the other camaros and mustangs

Thats funny, "sheeple". Many years ago at Mopars in th Park, there was a gentleman who had a very nice black '57 DeSoto convert. People were flocked around it because it was different. He said he loved going to shows and park right in the middle of all the 55-57 Chevys. "people will walk right by a 100 Chevys to look at my DeSoto" "Sheeple" indeed.

people love things they dont see all the time. when i take my 66 Charger places people flocked to it. The paint is really bad as the clear coat is going and the florida sun is killing it. the interior before i started restoring it was really bad. seats torn, carpet faded. but i come rolling up in it with the wonderful sound of a big block and people are waiting for me to turn it off and look at it and ask questions.

my interior restoration thread over on FBBO and some pictures of the car.

My ratty C body got more attention with the hood closed than a 69 GTX with a Hemi under the open hood. Felt cool standing back and seeing people check out my car and walk right by the nicer car. But in the same breath, shows can be boring too. I usually go to one that has multiple things going on. Mopars in the Park is good for that.

Sunday, Tomahawk will have 300 plus cars some big iron shows up.

Last Summer, I drove my "hippie van" to a show, and parked next to a Hemicuda, a big-block Chevelle, and a '66 Mustang. More people came over to scope out the van than the other three by a long shot! Of all the shows I took that van to, I was the ONLY van in all but one, in which a guy from KCMO drove his seriously-customized Ford van to (chopped top 8", pearl paint, LOTS more!). We had a great time together!

A real famine of Moparts and especially C's at any of our shows down here. The irritating part is that when Moparts do show up, their owners aren't real Mopar guys. They know how many of their own cars were built and squat about everything else. Never meant any of them that could wrench.

exactly the opposite here and it shows on this board alone. Most every Mopar guy I ever have met knows his way around a car with a wrench

The best webiste for WI/IL/MN for general car show list is www.wisconsincollectorcar.com There is show this Monday in Omro. A car show called "Graduation Car Show" in June where the AMC club President puts on a nice show, opens the museum and has several rare AMC's in Jefferson WI. Plus a huge feed and drink included for approx. $5 (a car not per person) Look at that site and see what you think. I would take the Imperial but need a different carb. to replace the Carter AFB so it should be the '70 Fury "Pursuit".

I've never been much of a fan of car shows. I get tired of the know-it-alls that try to tell me about my Ford Impala.

Even worse is when I later find pics like these on the web.

no, that is not my hat. I did catch them later putting their beer cans on my trunk.

The Chattanooga antique automobile meet is this weekend. It started today and will go through Sunday. It's a very casual, unjudged meet filled with events and cruise's. The meet is hosted by Robert and Laqueta Soule in Soddy Daisy Tenn and is well attended by C bodys and Forward look era cars although it is open to all original or restored to original automobiles.

A event flyed has been posted in this thread. Anyone within a couple hundred miles would nor regret showing up ...... And it's free.

Ellie and I are leaving in the morning in Jazebelle and will stay through Sunday.

Try going to a Fun Ford show like I have out here. The attendance has been dropping since 2008. Once had 350+ cars but now down to 225+ cars. A lot of the elderly drivers don't show up anymore. So out of that number there is sure to be 80+ Mustangs and there is no restriction on model year which means 1965-current. Next big group is a tie between the same Galaxies and T-Birds. I usually brough my Park Lane (only one) or 65 F-100 (only stock one) to the show. Even I have stopped going as I am not interested in the large amount of modified cars. I do, however, did enjoy the stock restorations. Even the one Mopar show was enough for me. Maybe 200+ cars and only 3 C bodies in a veritable sea of Chargers, Cudas, Road Runners and Challengers. Studies engine codes before I went and was surprised by how many cars were sans their small blocks when reading tags. Very disappointing. I don't like clones, fakes or tribute cars as there now seems to be far more of them than nice examples of a stock car from the era.

The only show I will go to this summer is the West Coast Cougars National in my backyard hosted by my club. The benefit here is that I am an original 20 year member and so many people are Cougar friends. I will admit here that there are a few Cougars I walk by because their is too much modification but I keep my mouth shut. Also I am the only truly original owner member.
