Are ypou sure that its not a line for the recirculation door?

There is a line for avacuating the system, but Im not sure its green, in my car its a thin line in hard plastic

Yes, the green one. My 1969 has autotemp, your car mabye have the manual ac. Look in the shop manual, all the vacuum hoses and colors are pictured there

Not so bad. It’s broken down into pieces. Attack each one separately and then be patient with checking the linkages. My bet is that the linkage hasn’t been disturbed and some of the components have been removed or don’t work.
