This kinda pigggybacks off the Boston drivers thread, but where in the world have you encountered the worst drivers? Manners, abilities, vehicle condition, all the above?

I've driven in all 50 US states, and most of the Canadian provinces. I've also driven in nearly all of western Europe, as well as parts of the Middle East, so my driving experiences have truly run the gamut, in everything from microcars to 60-passenger buses.

As far as the US goes, I'd have to put Boston, Houston, and Chicago as the worst. The roads suck, the drivers are exceptionally rude, and all three are places where you can easily get shot by just looking at someone in another car!

Western Europe is interesting. The Germans tend to be the best drivers and take driving as serious as life itself. The Italians (especially Sicily!) are horrible drivers! The producers of fun cars like Ferraris, Lambos, and Alfas, produce drivers that truly think they are the only person on the road, and they deserve every millimeter of that road! You in a hurry? Too bad.

The Middle East? Name the country, they are likely the worst drivers on the planet! In every way, shape and form. They put Boston to shame, in terms of no-talent, not sharing the road and simply not being able to drive at all!

What say you?

I've driven a lot in D.C. so I'd have to agree with your assessment.

actually probably fairfield county ct... I've never seen anyone completely stop to merge into freeway traffic until I moved back here. And red light? It's ok so long as you stopped or thought you did waiting for the green is unnecessary.

denverites in the rain are down right scary. marylanders in the snow are right there too. Ghosts drive in Tampa they're already dead and don't pay attention.

best place was San Antonio. Miss your exit? No problema hit the next one and loop back on to the highway without stopping. I love that concept.

Most of youz guyz haz never driven anything that haz more then 5 gear changez in the transmission and thatz cool and I'm good with that BUT. Try moving ah 48' Schooner with ah 70' mast strapped to the under side of it with 'bout 20' hangin' out the back from Portsmouth, Me. to Philadelphia, Pa. by intentionally avoiding as much of I-95 az you can and without paying any tollz. Their iz one interstate route I-84 that workz pretty well for 'bout half the trip but it will take you rite thru' ah little known garden spot they call Hartford and itz smack dab in the middle of the state we all know az Connecticut. I can't be sure but I'm reasonably certain that the idiot that designed the freeway system in, around, and thru' that city was neutered first and then hung within a week of those streetz opening for use for reasonable intelligent folkz. For the record I took driverz training on the Los Angeles freeway system so I know pain first hand, but I ain't never goin' tah Hartford EVER again in my life time. You ever move from one 4 lane freeway to another 4 lane freeway and then to 3rd freeway crossing the ramp plus 3 more lanez within less then 200 yardz with ah 14'X14'X75' toy on your back. For those that have met me I gotta tell yeah I'm 43 and I know what I look like. THATZ WHAT DRIVING THRU' HARTFORD WILL DO TO YOUZ GUYZ TOO IF YOU WANNA CHANCE IT, Jer

The worst place i drove was the tropics of far north queensland on lanes jokingly called roads that were simple dirt with ruts that were 6 inches deep and approximately a foot apart meaning no matter what speed you would do the car shook like crazy and i had parts of the car drop off, my hands and forearms would start aching after about an hour and then about an hour after that they would go tingly and numbness would set in. My cell phone even fell apart on the trip and there was this super fine red bull dust that was like talc and it found its way in through every little orifice in the vehicle and coated everything.
But thats not all! Sometimes the roads would turn into sand drifts and you would have to speed up and plow your way through and keep your momentum up for if you stopped, that was it. You were stuck until maybe somebody else came along that day. Then you had th forested lanes you had to be careful on for they went much wider than the vehicle and idiots would be travelling along in the opposite direction at about 60mph and you could easily end up in a head on crash coming around a bend. I stopped at a place called Heathlands ranger station where the local ranger kept an eye on things of the far north, one man and his wife all alone. Anyway he had a huge tractor there with a crane on the back and would go out to pick up any cars that had accidents and would simply lift them up right off the ground and carry them back to the station, there were at least a dozen vehicles collected there that i remember. i could tell you a whole lot more about the trip but i would end up going off on a tangent and talk about the crocs and sharks etc.
here are some pics of the type of vehicle i was driving and some of the roads.

No Will, not noon here but that day I stopped ah little early in White Plains and closed ah little water hole that probably I could never find again if you held ah gun to my head!

Boston is crazy, but I really never felt like it was personal.... They just drive crazy and they don't really cut you off.... It's more they just use smaller spaces between the cars.

I was in Buffalo last week and the rush hour in the morning is pretty nuts. They seem to enjoy making it hard to change lanes or get off the exits. It's personal there.

X2 on Philipines it is just a free for all and you stay on right side of the road a little more than half the time curve straight doesn't matter pass everybody.

Rudest and the least courteous with the worst driving etiquette has to be Ohio, then Michigan and rounding out the top 3 is Delaware......Jersey is by far the best 2nd would be Indiana............

worst design is the damn jug handle u turns or whatever they are called. i want to say that was back east somewhere where i encountered that. WTH?

Houston, Phoenix, Chicago, New York. Any big city that is heavily stacked with too many Humans in one single spot. Passaic! YUCK! Filth beyond description. I think you could drive over someone in DC and a cop would shrug!

Had to be NJ. Jug handle heaven there! Always have to make a right to make a left!
For me, the worst place to drive was Puerto Rico. Where they make the shoulders of the road into another driving lane. Right or left, didn't matter, they show no mercy LOL
