As the title states, Im looking for switches. I have a 1970 polara, base model, without tilt wheel. I need a headlamp switch, a complete turn signal switch, ignition switch, and key lock cylinder.

I cannot find these anywhere except NOS on ebay, and they are expensive. I looked at local auto parts stores, rockauto and some mopar stores, NOTHING.

Is there an online source for C body electrical/interior parts? Or, are there other vehicles that would use the same parts as my car that would be easier to search for?

$45. Again, that's a good price... Figure $20 for a used one... and I would spend the extra $25 for a new one in a heartbeat.

That switch may, or may not, function on the cars he has listed in his ad, but I can guarantee that they are all not the same switch. Even '70 E-body and '70 B-body switches are different from each other.

The point is there are switches available if you look. I found those with 15 seconds of searching.

Len Dawson has a website where you can probably find what you need...it's better if you have the part numbers, but if not he can research for you....he sells NOS.....but he's usually half or less the price of other guys.....you can probably find a lot of trim and emblems for your Polara too... http://www.dpmotorparts.com I have used him, and highly recommend his business...Steve

Thats probably best. Ill take it all apart and get my part numbers. Thanks all for the links and references.

I've got electrical gremlins all over the place (just bought the car). No gauges work, no instrument lights, no rear heater, key lock cylinder seizing up, ignition switch 'start' position doesnt work, no interior lighting no instrument lighting yada yada yada.... and yes all fuses are good.

Got a lot of wire tracing to do, checking for corrosion, shorts, etc and all grounds and connections.

I understand that, I was just wanting him to know that just because an ad says a part is correct for a certain car doesn't necessarily make it so, which I find to be the case a lot on eBay. I wasn't knocking your effort, just a "buyer beware" kind of thing.

I pulled the turn signal switch. It turns out to be a part number 3488805. It's a tricky part to find, it didnt come up in my searches for a 1970 Polara Turn Signal Switch. It has 2 connectors, one is 3 pin the other is 9. the connector with 3 pins was just dangling loose, and I couldn't find the female connector to plug it into. I looked in my FSM, and the 3 pin is used for cars with cornering lamps, and I don't have cornering lights, just side marker. So Chrysler must have used the same switch for cars with and w/o cornering lamps to save money. This made the part hard to find because it's not specifically listed for my car, and its also listed for cars 'with cornering lamps' which I do not have.

Just another example of needing to pull the part before ordering a new one.. I was quoted the wrong part number and over $200 for an NOS piece from a mopar specialist, and ebay gave me very mixed results. Big relief when I found out my part number is reproduced and costs $30 to $100 depending on which box it comes from.

reproduced under a number of manufactures,
CARQUEST 53-58724
WELLS SW319
AIRTEX 1S2985
STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS TW-7
BWD S3285
ECHLIN DL6398

That happened to my 67 Newport w/a.c. when I needed a new HVAC control switch. My year was unavailable and NOS only. I read how the 70+ switch could be used and they are available everywhere for fifty bucks.

You could also try to repair the ones you have. There is really not much science in them! I repaired all my switches myself. Take a look at my Imperial thread to see the wiper switch as an example. Airbrush rechroming still panding...

Another thing to beware of is the part number stamped into the part is not always correct.
