Can someone explain the operation of the windshield switch, mine is erratic and not knowing how it is supposed to work makes it hard to figure out.

Is there a high and low and where are they on the switch? Is it supposed to be variable speed?

Have you looked in your glove box owners manual? Have a factory service manual for? I think I have a nice original available.

Service manual says nothing and have no owners manual.

I was just hoping someone could tell me where low, high and off are supposed to be.

This is out of the ‘61 owners manual.

Well after many night and much frustration I got them to work properly. The whole problem was a grounding issue, but not where you might thing. I took the switch apart multiple times cleaning the contacts inside, one of the metal tabs that bends over to hold the switch together clamps onto a small piece of copper in the switch to create the ground to the case that bolts to the dash. Well even thought that tab was smashed down hard on the contact it was not making good contact. Put a drop of solder on it and everything worked perfectly.
