I didn't take a ton of pics but I'll post what I got! Weather was perfect!
First pic is of my dad who just turned 80 a couple of weeks ago and that's his Challenger he's had for 15 years now. He just sprung it on me that he's ready to sell it as he's not physically able to drive it anywhere near as much as he used to. He wants to sell it to me which is a good thing because I don't want it to leave the family and I really want to continue enjoying it with him as long as I can. I'm happy and lucky to see my parents growing old together but it also sucks to see them growing old!

The club that I belong to, North Oakland Mopar Muscle, rents this bank parking lot in the heart of the cruise. On average this event draws around 40,000 cars and 1,000,000 people from all over the world. I am no longer suprised to see ANYTHING rolling down the ave.. It's officially only a 1 day event but Woodward Avenue is packed with cruisers on any given nice summer evening and in the weeks prior to the WDC I see folks out at 9 am sitting in there lawn chairs watching the action.

Matt, I was lucky to have my Dad until he was 80. With seven kids and a German Shepard we always had a Mopar wagon when I was a kid. My Mom made it to 69. Have to savor all the time you can with your parents while they are here. Nothing but great times for me. Is that last picture of you and your wife? Nice looking couple. I definitely have this cruise on my bucket list! Along with the WPC Museum!

Thats nice that you get first shot at th Convertible and a sweet thought on your part with pop. My mom died at 54, 15 years ago. Dad is 71 and I keep him close. He does many shows including five days at Carlisle this year, with the heat. It is hard to watch them get old yet I still take him for granted, I think we all do.

Dave's Dad is a trooper! He endured that brutal heat and humidity at Carlisle and was out and about checking out cars and the swap vendors. Did he make it over to the Daisy Duke or Miss Carlisle contests?

You know, I dont believe he did...perhaps he is dead and I dont know it. I would have thought he and my son would have gone together but dad dont like crowds, perhaps that is why, lord knows he likes young hotties.

So your a B & E body guy. What, no C's on the avenue? :eusa_naughty:

There were lots of C's also but not when I had my camera in hand.
BTW, I like them all!

Sounds like you were blessed with a great family too! I am the youngest of 5 and we always had the big wagons as well. Tons of great memories and hopefully tons more to be had!
Not married, been there and not sure if I'd ever do it again but that is me and my girlfriend.

Definitely agree... take every opertunity to spend time with your parents while you can. I was the youngest of 9, one sister passed before my time, my Dad at 66, a sister the following year at 39 and my Mother the next year at 67. I was 28-30 and lucky to have been close with both parents, and their influence will affect the rest of my life.

Dad's wagons when I was little were a '62 Chrysler and a 9 passenger '60 Plymouth. He also had a '48 GM Coach that we took to my grandfather's winter home in San Benito Texas every February for 2-3 weeks.

Dave may recognize the color, as Dad got the paint code from my brother's '70 Sport Fury.

I was just a little shaver in the early '70s, and remember sleeping in the overhead luggage rack. It was pretty cool to travel in... so much so that I bought my own in '03. Siblings have stated that Dad would have definitely liked the one I stumbled accross. Mine does have A/C, acres of luggage bays and an 8-71 Detroit... 80mph with footfeed leftover. I made the grille, so it may be the only Greyhound that you see with one. I am considering changing the red sections to FK5 or the newer Chrysler Inferno red pearl...?

Just went to a concert with some friends last week.

That 8V-71 Detroit was a bulletproof engine. We had them in M110A2 Howitzers. It would haul that 38 ton monster anywhere.
