Woodward Dream Cruise `12

Once again, another item on my fantasy wish list (have to stop saying Bucket List).
This made into an RV...

BTW, the Scenicruiser evolved over the years. This specific model is the one I want.

Nice! It's probably as durable as a tank. Did those have a gas or diesel motor?

This looks like an early design drawing for GM in the early '50s, the actual outcome would have been like the '55 GM Scenicruiser pictured below (4105?). The regular version in this era was a GM 4104, Starting in... I believe '55 and running through '60. These would have had the 6V-71 (318).

My Coach is a '61 GM 4106 (the 50th one) made from '61-'66, and the Scenicruiser through this span was a 4107 and 8V-71 powered (568). The late '70's version was still much like mine and the scenicruiser was a 4905.

Not sure how many of you besides Bob are familiar with the Detroit, but I really like the sound of these things. I also bought Dad's HD20 Allis dozers from our Trust, and these have 6-110 Detroits, that is a 660 cube 2 stroke diesel, huge power for it's day. The blade on this is over 15' wide.

Looks like a heck of a lot of fun right there! What concert did you guys go to?

I was skeptical when some friends arranged the same trip last year, but I was really impressed after the fact... It is a group called "Hairball", and they have at least 3 lead singers and they dress up like AC/DC, Def Leopard, Cinderella, Motley Crue, etc. Actually now that I have gone a couple times, I will have no problem going every year, as they do an outstanding job with the music, costumes and the mannerisms... at points it is fricken hillarious. They open for big bands at Dakota Rock Fest, and once people see them play once they will go out of their way to go to their personal concerts as well.

I never looked to see if they have a website, but I wouldn't doubt it. I am curious as to how large of an area that they actually travel.

I have one friend that is a huge Dokken fan and I have gone to various concerts with him and his wife. Last year a Dokken concert was rained out and 90% of the people went home, but they actually moved the concert to a warehouse but only 100-150 people showed up, so it was almost like a private party. After the concert his wife just walked up to Don Dokken and started BS.ing with him, then he noticed I was waiting for her and he walked over and talked to me. I really don't get the fan interest in the people behind any entertainment, but it was fun to tell Jeremy that Don Dokken kissed his wife on the cheek and approached me to talk to me while he was MIA. They really had a good attitude and played their all for a literal failure of a turn out.

Yep, that would be fun. How long was the road trip to the show. Kool story.

That's a great experience! And to continue having great times with friends is priceless!

That Detroit diesel in the howitzer was turbo-supercharged. The only exhaust was a 90 degree elbow off the turbo. That's it. Sounded sweet! That motor was a torque monster.
