Visited a closed down wrecking yard/hoard/collection/used car dealer...in California that is going to be crushed out soon. Trying to save as many cars as I can before the crusher comes in. Long video but wanted to show the stuff there.

1969 brown senior Dodge at 9:22
1969 turquoise Newport at 24:25
1968 T&C at 27:13
1972 Polara at 30:08, fender tag copied for @69CoronetRT and @cuda hunter (cop car DK41U2D189324 or DK41U2D189824 )

There may be more, but I could only quickly browse the first third last night.

PS: I don't think I had seen the K1A9 interior trim tag code before, but here's a 1971 that has it.

Just visited that site recently.
Easy to get lost there.
Too much to look at in one day.
High difficulty factor to get anything out.
Lots of worthwhile cars and parts.

Is anyone saving or at least taking pictures of fender tags or VINs of the cars that cannot be saved and will be crushed?

I unfortunately ran out of time to get them, will do my best next time im up there but a lot of doors/hoods won’t open.

Hard to watch, filming is terrible, good parts cars there though.

Is there someone who collects that info? What use would it be put to?
Several people collect VIN and option data for various reasons.

1) it puts package car data (70 Hursts) with a single SPD production into context by comparing VINs to regular production. The data shows when and about how many cars were in a batch.

2) it helps answer the questions of “how many xxx are known”, “what is my engine out of”, and “is this an odd combo”?

3) some people are insanely curious regarding details of how things were actually done at the factory instead of relying on urban legends, poor prior articles or writing, or guessing.

4) OCD. Some of us can’t stand to have squares in our waffles without syrup. We HAVE to have completeness. Every new VIN helps with that.

I didn't catch where this is located exactly. Are you allowed to disclose?

Looks like about 3000 ft elevation judging by the vegetation.

We were there last spring.

Mopar 5150 did an episode on Happy Camp.

That place is a nightmare. Lots of trees, hills, tight quarters, nothing has a title, etc etc.

All of the really good stuff was gone before Ron passed. The last I heard a member of the tribe is handling sales?

If you go watch for snakes and poison oak. Bring a chainsaw too!

I have hundreds of pictures. There are more cars on an adjacent property. We worked our way towards them several times and someone started shooting from the genral direction. Apparently some of cars were over the property line. There was also a barn FULL of air cleaners and other tin that was eventually cleaned out. Most of the cars in the yard are missing the air cleaner assembly.

For out of towners- Happy Camp, CA is not a place to go sight seeing. Many of the locals are hostile and there is no local law enforcement presence. There are lots of cold case disappearances in the area. If you must visit Siad Valley my advice would be to find someone familiar with the area. There is still a cross section of nice people that would you would expect in a rural community.
Be aware that Happy Camp and Siad Valley are generally known as areas to avoid.
