That polara is awesome. Is there mounting holes for the hood ornament or was it deleted at the factory? Any interior shots?

No mounting holes for a hood ornament.
It's the original hood with the unit number on the passenger side.



The interior is a bench seat with gray vinyl & cloth.
The seats were recovered before I got it. (Correct pattern??)
The floor is covered by a full rubber mat.
Ivory steering wheel (well....what's left of it) with dual spotlights.
It does have a "Certified" speedo.
Radio delete. Power steering delete.



The car didn't come with factory seat belts....but I believe they were added while it was still in service.
A tag on one of the belts is from a California prison industry.



The dash is painted black. That was in the vehicle specifications.



Yes....they are Budd brakes.

I've had it for a little bit -- almost four years now. It's been a little work here and there as time allows.
As I mentioned...I wasn't looking for a car when I stumbled across it.
(Thirty days later it was sitting in the driveway.)

Much of the work has been addressing mechanical issues. I've also been picking up parts and doing some research.
I'd like to find out more of it's history because I believe the car sat for a very long time.

Mine has a hole in the fender that is plugged.
I'd like to think that was how it came from the factory....but I couldn't swear by it.

It looks like someone mounted speakers to each of my kick panels. There's the faint outline of a circle (for a speaker) and four drilled holes in the perimeter (mounting) and another in the center (wires).
So...I can't say for sure that's how it should be.

I do not know about 65 but my 69 did not have a hole in the fender for the antenna.

I took the car out last night for a short spin and couldn't resist the opportunity to snap some pics.

Don't worry. This was on the side of a quiet, two-lane road. (No "lights" while driving.)
But...you'd be surprised how many people pace a black and white -- even if it's from 1965.

This is the 66 that is owned by the CHP Academy,

The rear deck lights are Dietz 9-51 and start life a silver/grey color. They are removed when cars are taken out of service and used in the next cars, when they start liking bad they get painted black. Either color is correct for most years.

This looks to be an original push bar for a 66, the primary piece is bent and connects to the frame with a couple pieces that are welded at an angle. There is a vertical brace that I think was a lighter weight like the cross brace. The rubber is conveyor belt material held on with elevator bolts.

This appears to be correct (somewhat), the original radio delete panel is drilled for the switches.

The left switch is Horn/Siren, the center Red/Off/Amber for the rear lights and the left is Inside/Outside for the speaker. If any of these switches is on the red pilot light comes on.

The radio control head, mic and speaker are all correct.

The gun lock looks to be correct (a little different than mine).

The gun lock bracket might not be an original? There should be holes on the floor where the butt of the gun went. With that lower socket in place the upper part would be aligned properly. I think it should be more vertical and the wire should be routed through a hold in the dash behind the mount.

I hope this helps, I will see the car again in two years but could make a trip up there if persuaded.
