How to remove 68 newport front buckets

Hopefully, you won't have an aftermarket exhaust pipe blocking one of the studs. Took my seats out last year and that's what I had to deal with. Was a pain!!!

Studs which are made into the seat track/riser. The nuts will be captured-concave washer nuts with some "biters" around their outer edge, IIRC.

This is from my '70, but it should be very similar. You can see the studs pointing down.

So, nuts are under the car?
Yes.

There will be 4. 1 on each corner of the seat. IIRC, the nuts take a 1/2 deep socket.

Best way to see where they are is look at the seat frame and visualize where they stick through the floor.

I have long arms, so I can reach the nuts without jacking the car, but if you are reluctant to jack it up and crawl under it, drive the front wheels up on something like some pieces of 2x6 wood or similar. That will get it up just enough to get under the car and unbolt them.

I wish I had a good pic to give you.

Many thanks

In this photo you can see the four holes for each seat. Under the car, in the rails, you will find the nuts recessed in the adjacent holes.

I have my seats adjusted all the way back and still it feels not comfortable. Has anyone invented a Solution to move the seat Tracks 2“ back . I can do the hillbilly Solution and just drill 4 new holes but I‘m not sure if this is still a solid fix for the seats...

That might be your only solution.

Don't drill new holes. It's a bad idea. The floor is braced in the mounting spots for safety and if you're a big guy, that's even more important should you get hit, especially from behind.

Here's what you do, and this will give you at least an inch. You'll probably need to buy some new bolts, look for carriage bolts at your local hardware store.

You'll need to cut off the old bolts and install new bolts in the holes on the seat base that I've placed some arrows. Easy to do... I've done a couple.

If your seat has spacers under it, you can also take the rear ones off as that will tip the seat and give your upper body more room, but try moving the bolts first.

Frank, there are 2 piece adjustable seat tracks for c bodies...they have 3 height positions...1in lower, normal, 1 inch higher...they also are slotted on the back side(not shown) to slide fore and aft about 2 inches...I just installed a set on the buckets of my wife's 68 Fury to raise the seat...they probably fit a number of years as the ones I had didn't have the right handle to mate with my hinge covers so I had to disassemble my originals and re use those levers...you may be able to file the slot longer or drill new holes if necessary
