Some of you may remember this car but for the newer members may not know about it.
12 years of history is documented on the old Dry Dock.
I tried to give the Dry Dock CPR but no luck.
So I will be updating the car's progress here.

Too much to rewrite here. So please read the link first to get the full understanding.

As I sit in our garage, been polishing trim getting it ready to install.
Over the years the car was repainted or at least repaired in a few areas. Overspray on the trim is one clue.
I always remove the overspray to give a clean and bright appearance.

You know.... I kept looking at this car and wondering "4 door sedan 300"... No way... I looked at the pics on Drydock and saw the Newport tail lights and wondered even more.

Did more searching and found this was a Canadian 300! That means the tail lights were Windsor. Learn something new every day!

So, aside from the Windsor tail lights and being a sedan, what other differences are there between the USA and Canadian 300s?

Windsor/Newport seats but with 300 front door panels and engine turned dash applique.
Engines painted red and usually everything else attached to it including overspray on the trans bellhousing, and p.s.pump.
Being the " sporty" model the 383 4bbl engine was standard in Canada.

Seems like there are some other pictures of a 1966 Canadian Chrysler 300 in here, from several years ago? USA Newport from the C-pillar rearward. 383 4bbls were standard on USA 300s, too, with single exhaust. As 383 4bbl Plymouth Furys and similar Dodges for factory dual exhausts.

NOW, "the kicker" would be to take a USA Newport 6-Window Town Sedan and put the 300 interior and outer sheet metal "dress" on it. Instant "1 of none" status! Finding a good Town Sedan would be the trick, due to their normal low-production (under about 20K production in each of the 65-66 model years) status.

Canadian 300s with factory bucket seats?

Enjoy!

Bench seat standard, buckets optional.
Both the sedan and 2dr parts car have bench seats.

Looking good Lea! Glad to see this one getting the work it deserves! Hey I tried posting on the thread on the dock but even being signed in it said I don't have permission to post. Oh well, not much going on there anyway.

Kool car my friend!
I see Stubbs is still posting on the dry dock…

Cool ride, I remember back in like 2001, there was a Canadian built 66 300 4 door in Ferndale, WA I was keen on but at that point, it felt bit heavy on the wallet for me. Unfortunately, a local demo guy felt otherwise and away it went. Looking back, I can’t understand why I didn’t buck up on that one.

Good luck with ‘er.

Rusty passed away August 30th.
3 days prior he asked me to help finish the car.
Saturday was his celebration of life.
So I will finish the car for him.
His ashes are in an urn showing a black Mustang driving into the sunset. Very cool.
I met Rusty over 30 years ago.
He was at a local coffee/ donut shop, sitting on his hood of his 67 Riviera. It was freshly painted in his favorite color-- black.
The ," Riv" was very shiny---Except the hood.
Why? I asked.
" I like to sit on the hood and have my coffee. Dont wanna scratch it up."
Fast forward to when he asked me to help with this 66 Chrysler 300...
I asked whats left to do on the car...
If you guessed the hood yer right!
How we met is how he left me.
Funny how life comes full circle.

Rusty knew everybody.
Luckily we have mutual car friends that stepped up and the hood got painted.
We installed the hood tonight.
Still needs to fully harden, then cut and buffed.
Moving forward, final assembly will happen quickly.

I've met some really great people in the car hobby. Some already lifetime friends, and some that I know will become that.
It's one of hte reasons I'm in it. People that are only into sports, etc, aren't interesting to me.
I had a non-car coworker ask me years ago 'why the old cars?'. I tried to explain it, but he couldn't understand. (he's probably watching a game on the couch right now)

Full circle, yes! And none of this is coincidental, so we should make the most of it.

I would love to process the data on this car's fender and VIN tags--to help develop and test my free decoder project. First four on the VIN would suffice. Example below. Please post or PM pix. There is probably something to learn regarding differences, if any, between Jefferson Ave. Detroit and Windsor, Ontario, Canada tags as well as the cars themselves.
