I guess Richard Petty had something to say after the Talladega race. I don't even watch it much anymore not even the highlights, same o, same o.

NASCAR is not the same after the speeds got to over 200mph (even with restricted motors), from the 1963 days when 160 was probably the top speed of genuine stock-body cars.

Not the same, no matter what. It was more fun to watch, back then. I was watching the end of the race where Dale, Sr. backed-off to let his son and other team mate finish the race. Then he crashed.

In the earlier 1960s, I watched the televised races and read about them in the major car magazines, back then. There was more real competition back then, not only in "driving" or "power", but in innovative ways to do things and not get caught. Definitely more interesting!

Thanks for the memories, King Richard!

Yeah now it's more of a 'Show' now with the drivers being the 'Super Stars' and not fans going to see which car manufacture would win. The marks, brand, cars were the stars more or less back in the old days.

I can remember a funny comment back when the COT cars first appeared, 'Cars going around in a Conga Line for 180 laps don't make a race!'.

Strategy and all of that stuff. More rules, too.

Strategy was always there, but not like it is now.

NASCAR has changed many times, but when they orchestrated finishes and put out flags for unseen debris or whatever reason to bunch the cars at the end they lost credibility. It’s all show, entertainment similar to wrestling (i.e., not real), all for TV rights with empty stands. Not watchable for more than a decade, maybe two. Not a fan. Long live Baker, Yarborough, the Allisons and of course, the King.

Stage Racing and Competition Yellows.... stoopid.

All to bunch them up for a spectacular finish to benefit gambling, but I don't gamble on Sports Betting so it's just speculation on my part.
