Where was this Mopar Brochure/Ad Photo shot?

897 answer. I am gonna wait a bit to see if any other OP put up a game.

This is Venice Italy. The white bridge with the arches is the famous Rialto_Bridge, first built in about the year 1200. Is one of four bridges spanning Venice's main canal, the Grand Canal (kind of like "main streeet" in the island city.the walking paths are names. theyare "streets"/walkways but they are more like pedestrians routes in water and the taxis are "boats" (godolas mainly but some motorized ferries too) on the minor canals.

The staged photo BMW is sort parked at the Rialto bus station on "Riva de Ferro" . You can see Rialto bridge looking north up the Grand Canal and the car is somewhere on the right where the pedestrians are standing.

BMW got special permission to use barges to pose/move the car around Venice because you cant drive on the island or on the main/minor bridges. lotta walking.

this one is an interesting and difficult one. intriguing old french car led me too look to find so no luck yet. i will stay in western Europe. I'm intrigued by cv reference. some vestige of that tax regime must have been in place in the 90's when i was an ex-pat in Paris. Berliet was long gone by then as a brand. it limited the price the company paid for my company car. my boss, an officer, got a BMW 750 when all i could get was top-of -the- line Opel Omega.

nice car but I'm it wasnt a luxo-performance sled. max engine displacement was 3.8L. op Omega was peppy (could hold their own on the Autobahn) but not like BMW 7's. we imported it badged as as the Cadillac Catera. American market didnt appreciate the "Caddie that zigs" but that was a good car.

Anyway. this one is gonna take a little more effort. Can you confirm at least if its a real site? make sure we aint looking for a ghost since Berliet has been gone for decades?

I rented one during a vacation in Europe back in 2010. About half an hour into the rental, I was driving on the highway at 185km/h (~115mph) when one of the rear tires blew up. The car remained stable enough that I could bring it to a safe stop. Luckily, we were in light traffic, but it is the car -- not the traffic -- that saved us. There is a lot to be said for cars engineered to have a safety margin.

Real site. The B&W photo is from back then, but I've been there on vacation and the castle looks the same.

thanks man. "castle" was a hunch and following that i found it. never went there when worked in region but i read about what they did to rehab the place was impressive given its age

challenging game. we never been to this place in all the years running this game really historic site and i learned a lot (part of the fun of running it).

yeah i never was a fan of the horsepower tax but the european focus on performance and safety was/is top notch . even in their econo-boxes. my then wife had an Opel Astra hatchback four banger ( think todays Mid 90' Chevy Cavalier/Dodge Omni /vw Golf sized compact wagon ) that was a hoot (1.8L manual, remarkably zippy, handled like it was on rails,) to drive and easily served a family of four with little kids at the time. good size for Europe cities/roads. we took that car was all over France.
