Stock 383. It is 2017, is there something better than the old school cork? In 15 years, I've never had these completely perfect, and currently have a pretty obnoxious leak on the drivers side.

that's what I use I went through the same thing. I found a spot of casting flash on mine, honed it down and it has been fine since, worth a look see

These are the best gaskets you can buy for the money. With a center metal strip sandwiched between silicon layers there is no more slippage on installation, no sealant required, no need to overtighten and they can be removed and reinstalled several times. Work very well on cast or steel covers.

I just used the FelPro #1612 and they worked fine. The only thing is there are no tabs to lock into the slots on the OEM valve covers, you'd need to use a small bead of gasket sealant to make sure they stay in place during assembly, particularly on the right side if you have to work around the HP exhaust manifolds.

Make sure you valve covers are straight then glue the gasket to VC with 3M trim adhesive (the yellow snot) place them flat on floor with something heavy on them to dry overnight. Next day use some permatex ultra black on the surface facing the head tighten down, done

Felpro VS50145R. Hi performance rubber coated fiber. The best I have ever used.

AAP has them $15.39. You can save 20% by ordering online.

I have always run the typical Fel-Pro rubber-cork with no issues. Make sure if using stamped covers that the fay surfaces are not distorted. I never use any sealants. If you can find some of those "load spreader plates" that fit between the fastener and valve covers, they should help a little. And as mentioned above, make sure the mating surface of the head is not scrwed up eitjer.

Web search "REAL GASKET CO." in eastern Tennessee. They supply the AIR and AUTO industry with Pure Silicone Gaskets that are re-useable. Ah bit more $ then most and some unusual colors but handz down the only gaskets I use for B.B. rocker covers AND 727 panz. Torq to their recommendationz that come with the gasketz and done..... Jer
