...see pictures like this that match it to a T, I always wonder: "is that the same first C-body I ever owned 43 years ago?"

You never forget your first one.

I do the same thing with my Super Bee............I've never seen another one even close.......at car shows, Ebay, various websites, nothing. I wasn't saavy enough as a teenager to write down the VIN# or take a picture of the fender tag.

Would you go through the resto of a basketcase if it were the one ?
Did it once with my father's Bimmer that I bought back from the scrapper. Not sure if I'd do it again.

Really. That's why I'm searching for it. My father bought it in 1967 and handed it down to me in 69.
I thought that would be my final fulfillment with all things C-body.
Once I could do that, I could die peacefully and content.

Maybe I was too young when I brought it back at around 30. Did it on a budget and by saving some of the original paint, but somehow it did not do to me what I thought, was his first and last new car.

I would definitely rebuild my Super Bee if I found it in basket case condition. I'm even thinking about finding a Coronet and cloning one. That's probably the only way I'll ever see or have another one.

I remember Stan mentioned some bondo repair on one of the quarter panels but that should go for about 50 percent of the survivors. :) The VIN would help but we're all about sure it was recycled about three times and now has the shape of a Mazda RX8.

My father's (and then mine) first C-body was a 1967 base Newport 2 dr. Fast top.
No options except for the following.
A/T P.S. P.B. A/C AM Radio S/G. Period.
88-1 Mediteranean Blue Poly Blue interior.
If I didn't mention it, it didn't have it.

He didn't buy it because he liked it.
He bought it because it was the cheapest one available on the lot.
To him, it was a generic appliance.
To me it was being King of the World.

When I found the above photo, I tracked down the then current owner and he was very eager to work with me. Turned out it wasn't my car. And it wasn't for sale.
Saw another one in Europe. I tracked down the then current owner Bad communication but got it sorted out. Turned out it wasn't my car. It was for sale for three times what it was worth here.
Saw one for sale on line. Very old ad. I tracked down the then current owner. He wouldn't talk to me. Probably it would have turned out it wasn't my car. Obviously not for sale....

You never forget your first one.

It actually very closely resembles a slab side Chrysler.

I had one much the same, but it was dark green, with a black interior.

Do you have a peference to a Newport over the 300 as far as the 67s go?

I still have my 1st car that I actually got when I was 13 before I could even legally drive it. I think it is an imprinting thing, but I am always looking at the 2drht '68 300s and am really kicking myself for not making the trip to Albequerque NM and picking this one up for $3,000... It had every option except leather, an auto headlight dimmer and power vent windows. I am thinking I am destined to redo my original red one, even though it is fairly rough these days.

Those are one of my favorites too, certainly my favorite fast top.

A 100% match would make me pull the trigger without me even realizing it.
At this point in life all I can hope for is to get as close as possible.
