from an era when cars made bold statements
I think the design is hideous, BUT I can see and respect the statement being made. The cars from that era exuded a sense of largesse and veritas, optimism and adventure. Today its all about utilitarian economy and fuel efficiency, and political correctness. This "cantilever" 4dr. hardtop roof design really was something else. Still I like the more common 6 window hardtop design that was available with Cadillac and Buick.

Now you're getting it.I think the design is hideous, BUT I can see and respect the statement being made. The cars from that era exuded a sense of largesse and veritas, optimism and adventure. Today its all about utilitarian economy and fuel efficiency, and political correctness.
What I enjoy most about this era was the artistic license used in advertising.

Fantasy and reality.
yes, the old handmade ads are great. Some of the Imperials look in the drawings as if they were 30% longer than in reality
