Another Rookie Question?

So my aftermarket valve covers are evidently thicker than my stock ones requiring longer bolts than the stock bolts.

Anyone know off hand the size and thread size? of the stock valve cover bolts so I can order some black shiny ARP bolts a little longer?

What's wrong with measuring the length of what you have now, then going on ARP's site and find out what they have to offer? This isn't rocket science you know!

I'm already on the mymopar site and ARP's site. I'll figure it out. Just wondered if someone here already had the info.
 
Why do you need ARP's for valve covers??
 
Thinking about this, it's probably a great spot to suggest to everyone two very good pieces to have around the garage.

First is a 6" pair of digital calipers. For the garage, grab one of these: 6 in. Digital Caliper

I'm suggesting a digital version because the dial type tend to get crap in the gear rack and then the dial jumps. The digitals are simple and will last a while with some simple care, like just putting them away in a safe place when you aren't using them. These are cheap and get the job done, just don't use them for measuring anything that accurate. Lot's of uses for these besides figuring out what thread you have. Get one that reads in decimals and not fractions for more precise results.

The other thing is a little more specialized. Thread pitch gauge. Buy one that does SAE and metric threads. https://smile.amazon.com/Grip-Thread-Pitch-Gauge-SAE/dp/B004ROIU2A

This measures the thread "pitch". Pitch is the distance between one thread and the next. In SAE threads, it's designated as number of threads per inch. Example: 1/4-20 is 1/4 diameter with 20 threads per inch.

You hold it up to the thread and figure out what matches. Simple as simple can be.

These aren't "professional" tools that you would use in a machine shop, but are great for the garage.
 
You may have to use studs and nuts. Are you prepared to do that if you have no other choice?? Good Luck
 
Just to clarify my thinking on a couple of things....
I joined this group for the purpose of gathering information and will in turn part with information when I feel like I have something to offer.

This is the second time I've had the pleasure of receiving that damned "Cheers to all the folks meme" and honestly it pisses me off!
I used to spend a great deal of time on a StarCraft Boats forum and freely offered up info to those who had a need if it was an item I had experienced during my restoration. I did this without propping myself up by making someone feel like they shouldn't be asking the question. Clearly I must have misunderstood the purpose of this place.
I have an unexpected free weekend coming up and was just looking for a quick answer so I could possibly order what I needed and get it quick shipped.

What Mudeblue says is true, ignore it. I'm a fairly new member and younger than some of these gentleman and too have had to deal with some of the a-hole commentary. I have found the vast majority of these guys are here to help because they've all been there at one point or another.

No need to apologize. You asked a question and deserved an answer, simple as that. If someone isn’t willing to help don’t respond, there is no need for sarcastic answers. Had the same issues when I first joined.
I personally have enjoyed following your threads and hope you continue on.
