New 65 Newport for me off the internet, which means I didn't inspect the car first (I know). Used to have a 65 Sport Fury, sold it while ago, now this. Love the 65 Mopar styling. Anywhoo, the paint code on the fender tag is FF-1, mist blue. That's what I thought this was. But clearly it has been repainted, and there is evidence of a slightly turquoise original coat. See pics. Does FF-1 have a slight turquoise tint to it? I doesn't seem to when you look it up, but can't really tell from a small computer picture. Underpaint looks like KK-1 Peacock Turquoise, but that's not the fender tag. Maybe current paint is not an original Mopar color? It almost has a purple background hue to it. Comments?

Here's the 65 colors. Hard to tell from pictures and chips but maybe it's been repainted 66-1 Mauve Poly. Maybe a good picture in the sunlight might be better. If you have any sunlight in MN this time of year. :poke:

your color looks a lot like Ford portofino blue...think it's a 94 color... a light metallic blue with a purple tint...I have a Chevy C10 I painted that color

The car was painted a dofferent color from stock.

When looking at the door jamb you can see it was all painted the same as the outside of the car, The paint on the other side of the weatherstrip is the interior paint color. Not always the same as the body color.

Something doesn't add up here. It looks like if you had FF-1 exterior you could only have the H1B blue interior. That certainly looks like the H1Q turquoise interior.

I didn't catch this previously, good input. Would the interior color be on the data plate somewhere?
No if you can find the broadcast sheet. Mine was under the rear bench seat half eaten by mice.

Thanks guys for your help. From looking at a lot of paint chips and other cars, the original paint in the engine compartment and under trunk is indeed Mist Blue FF-1 with a very slight green tinge. The car was clearly repainted in either Naussau Blue DD-1 or some other non-Chrysler similar color. Now need to decide what to do.....car is super clean with no rust at all......

Under TRM R=9 which says special order or leather. Was leather an option in the Newport this year?

Also, second row Q2 says "asgtrophonic delux am", what's this "astrophonic"?

Is there any place that sells a replica MSRP if I give the VIN number?

Can you decide the rest of the fender tag?

Hi, dammstrate. Thanks for posting the pix of car and its Body Data Plate. I plugged the data into my free decoder to exercise it. The report is attached. My decoder also decodes the VIN. I entered a best estimate the first four digits of the VIN. The next six digits don't tell much, but I'd be glad to rerun the report with full VIN if you wish. Please review the report vs. what you see on the car and advise of any discrepancies. The Mist Blue Poly paint is one that requires a specially-buffing I reccomend removing the plate, removing the rust, painting the underside and base sheet metal (maybe use antirust primer) to preserve it forever. Be careful with the screws and don't lose them as they are unique.

Oops, sorry-I see I ran this plate before--with the VIN. What else ya got?

VIN is C153214204 Supposedly the "2" in the 5th position indicates a build to be sold in Canada. Which is consistent with the engine being painted red. There is some controversy about if this is true, some say "maybe". Ross Wooldridge (FCBO member) says it is true, he has 2 or 3 Canadian cars. The decoder from 300rag says the 2nd "2" on the first line means fender skirt, which is on my car. 300rag's decoder also says the 9 under the R on the bottom line means upgraded interior, which also is consistent with my car, the seats have a different kind of material as insert. Also, I seem to have individual seats almost like bucket seats separated with a pull down arm rest, but not a bench seat
where the arm rest fully retracts into the seat back. Have not seen this seating arrangement in any other Newport on the web so far.

So far, my biggest obstacle is finding this upgraded optional seat covers. My drivers seat has two tears in the butt area that will be almost impossible to repair.
