Hey guys, I’m hoping I can get some help here. I have a set of SRT suede seats that I’m trying to put in my 68 Chrysler Newport the issue is is it’s factory bench so it has that recess on both sides and then the four comes up has anyone had any luck fitting these types of seats and what brackets do you use to make up the slack and get them to fit right?

I just put 2020 Challenger seats in my 69 Newport. The seats are more narrow than the original buckets. We didn't change a thing on the seat brackets. Just used existing holes for one side then drill new holes for the other, hooked up the power and done. Will need some tweaks when I start driving her in the spring but so far incredibly easy.
Good luck with yours.

On the 68 there’s down ward recess on each side by the door so when you put them in the sit crooked. I tried leveling it out with 5/8 strut lock and it fixed the seat but now they sit a bit to hi for where I want them. I’m 6,4.

I’m trying to figure out how I can lower the seats on the side by the trans tunnel to even them out. Can’t figure it out.

What did you do for seat belts?

Are the factory side air bags still intact, but unplugged?

Is your Newport a 2dr? Was the SRT a 2dr? Keep in mind, any modern 4-dr seats might not have provision to flip forward.
In the old days, a 4dr bench was sometimes made the same but needed a bolt removed and a pin and latch swapped in.

Modern seats are made totally differently from what we are accustomed to.
They are lightweight, even considering all the electronics and features in them.
There are no hog rings, most of the upholstery is held on by elastic snaps.
And a loaded power seat can easily have 2 connectors with 20 wires in each.

I have a set of 2017-ish 300 seats and there looks to be no way to easily make them flippable.
The frame is all fabricated, formed and welded.

One funny benefit, though: Modern cars have hte cats up by the engine, so even on a RWD car the floorpan can be pretty flat.
While a car from the 80s/90s might have all 4 mounting points at differnt heights.

Some of this post discusses:
Aftermarket Bucket seats because of medical reasons..?

I use only pre-airbag seats in all my applications, leather seats from Lincolns, 2000+ Chargers etc etc, not hard to fabricate what you need to make a seat fit height etc.
mostly due to not paying stupid priced for original good quality factory pieces and I like the comfort of a more modern seat. Most seat belts can be adapted or use the belts the car seats came from.
