1978 Chrysler makes hiss sound and brakes seem soft when applying brakes

As in hard to stop soft, or too much travel? The hiss from under the dash at steering column is usually followed by a booster failure. You can have a bad brake master cylinder that has leaked fluid into booster and booth are on the way out.

68’ 300 OEM disc swap question

Rockauto shows a Part# for a 73 Newport brake booster, but not for a 73 Imperial. That may or may not mean something. Pull your Imperial one and see what if anything is different. Kevin

    65 300 Brake Booster

...C body disc brake systems had a Bendix Dual Diaphragm unit. In '65, there was only really one vendor (Midland-Ross) supplying drum brake boosters for Chrysler, with perhaps a second vendor making their own to Chrysler's specs - perhaps used for warranty/field installation, which I believe...

    69 Chrysler brake booster question

As many others will also tell you, the best solution is to have the original rebuilt by Vacuum Brake Boosters | Power Brake Booster Exchange, Lynwood also known as "Booster Dewey". No guess work, unbolt it, send it, bolt it back on when it comes back. It will fit because it came off the car.

A minor correction: Mopar made manual-disc A bodies in the late ‘60s.

    SOLD Power Brake booster

$125 shipped. 67 drum booster from my 67 Fury. Works perfect, no rust. I converted to disk hence why I don't need it.

    Another Disc brake question.

There have been a number of similar statements - and it boils down to "factory engineering is best" for these braking systems hands down - at least, that's my opinion. Others may differ, and it's their right to disagree. When you say your 68 has a Midland booster with a disc conversion - is...

    Another Disc brake question.

I suspect that Chrysler's performance standards go FAR past "normal driving" situations. Which is what most of us normally do. In that case, a drum brake booster can appear to work well, but if in the same situation as the not-normal-use of Chrysler's standards, it would not be as good, which...

66 Fury III Manual to Power Drum

Change out the pedal to a power brake pedal - the same from 65-68 for C bodies. Many out there in wrecking yards. Easy bolt in. Note that the Bendix booster (if it's the dual diaphragm one used for DISC brakes) may be a bit overboosted when used on a drum system. I suggest finding the...

WANTED Looking for a bendix booster for disc/drum setup.

What makes you think you can use a drum brake booster? From my research, disc brakes need twice as much boost as do drum brakes. Hence the dual diaphragm.

Welcome! Yes, photo of the booster. Although, power brakes don't have a lot of pedal travel, I would put it at 2" by guesstimate.

    1962 Brake Booster

If you are willing to send your booster to be rebuilt, there is an excellent rebuilder here in Southern California and I have sent him many boosters including many from my Forward Look cars and even one for my 1962 Chrysler 300H. Here is a link to a discussion of his services/work on this site...

For Sale N.O.S. 1971 Midland Ross Drum Brake Booster

You are reading the parts book correctly and clearly this is a brake booster to convert a manual brake car to power brake car, but the master cylinder is for a disc brake car and I am almost certain that manual disc brakes were not available in a C Body.
