1970 Fury - I'm in fastener Hell and I need help!

I will look up the Dave Weiss books. I'm guessing they're out of print? I see three place for studs in relation to the fenders. Two in the cowl area, circled together and another two at the bottom, rearward of the wheel arch: These are the cowl ones: And these are the other (missing a...

HWYCRZR, thank you so much! I agree a '70 would be better, but it all helps.

1970 Fury - I'm in fastener Hell and I need help!

Thank you for the replies and the photos, this is really helping. I think you're right about the battery tray bolts, HWYCRZR, and interesting to see the ends of the end of those 1/4" bolts sticking up through the fender. I need more photos like this. So here's one of each of the 1/4" selection...

1970 Fury - I'm in fastener Hell and I need help!

So, the car is coming together. Doors are on! I still have a big box of fasteners. I can see four different styles of bolt/machine screw. Ignoring the thread size and pitch, when are the different tips used? Some look like self-tappers, others have a non-thread tip, others go all the way to the...

1970 Fury - I'm in fastener Hell and I need help!

Thanks for the replies guys! I've seen one other '70 Fury here in the UK. The guy that owned it has sold it. They just aren't very common. Plus we're pretty much in lock-down at the moment, so I'd be breaking the law if I went to look at one. I've tried Facebook, but with no success. This forum...

1970 Fury - I'm in fastener Hell and I need help!

Thanks for the replies, guys. I'll have a look through the parts websites - good idea. But if you'd like to play 'name that fastener' I'm up for it. These are 3/8" x 16 UNC thread, 1 1/2" long bolts that I can only imagine are for mounting door hinges. The rest of these I have no idea about...

1970 Fury - I'm in fastener Hell and I need help!

There's an old joke about asking for directions and the guy says "don't start from here." So I have a 1970 Plymouth Fury convertible. This thing was rough and rusty, pulled from a field, stripped, repaired and painted. Then it came home to me to finish. I've been busy with life and other...

    70 Fury door weather seals?

Doesn't anyone make the door seals? Anyone got any NOS/used seals they'd be willing to sell?

    70 Fury door weather seals?

I'm keen to get the doors back on my '70 Fury convertible and I need advice on where to get all of the weather seals for the doors. I've found these for the A-pillar: Hinge pillar weatherstrip I've also found 'door bumpers': Door bumper Although I have no idea how many I need - could someone...

70 Fury brake booster - does it need a rebuild?

Thanks for all of the replies, guys. I think I'll reassemble it and give it a test before deciding how to proceed.

70 Fury brake booster - does it need a rebuild?

Thanks for the replies, guys. I know I can send the booster to the US, but if I don't need to spend money on this I'd prefer not to as there's no shortage of things that definitely do need money spending on them. It's got drums all round. The foam filter material has seen better days...

70 Fury brake booster - does it need a rebuild?

I'm in the UK, so that's not an option...... I guess I was expecting a big spring in there, but there wasn't one. Couldn't see any witness marks telling me there was a spring. The bolt holding the clamp together was metric, which means someone has been in there before me.

70 Fury brake booster - does it need a rebuild?

I have a '70 Fury with a Midland Ross brake booster. Part number is 2944041 (I think). Replacements aren't cheap if you can find one. (There is a relatively inexpensive booster listed for my car, but it's very different from the Midland Ross set up and would need loads of changes.) I got...

    1970 Plymouth Fury Convertible build

I'd be happy to write a piece on the electrolytic rust removal process, but the page PontiacJim linked to in reply #129 does a pretty good job of explaining how it works. I'd add that: 1) Only use ordinary steel or your solution ends up containing heavy metal pollutants. 2) Modern battery...

    Help! What's this stuff called?

Thanks guys. Masticated rubber. Can't find any for sale here in the UK, so I guess I might as well import a ready made set. Thanks again.

    Help! What's this stuff called?

Thanks for the replies. It's for a 70 Fury III convertible, but I was really looking for the name of the material as I'm in the UK and figured I'd buy a roll and cut it to fit myself.

    Help! What's this stuff called?

What's this stuff that stops water splashing into the engine bay called? Can you still buy it anywhere? I'd buy a big roll of it if I knew what to ask for. Thanks!

    1970 Plymouth Fury Convertible build

I'm back! Again. Life got in the way this year, sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse, and I had to get the old Ford going, which it sort of does now. Not quite got it registered yet, but I've had fun driving it around at a show. (That's my girlfriend's truck next to it. That's had...
