I have a '70 Fury with a Midland Ross brake booster. Part number is 2944041 (I think). Replacements aren't cheap if you can find one. (There is a relatively inexpensive booster listed for my car, but it's very different from the Midland Ross set up and would need loads of changes.)

I got focused on the brakes when the master let go and leaked fluid. Removing that revealed a fairly corroded looking booster. Previous owner said he had no problems with the booster, although the previous owner to him thought there might be a problem. I've never had the car running, so I don't know.

So I figured boosters can't be that complicated and took it apart. I've never had one apart before, but I guess it's all about vacuum leaks? The diaphragm appears to be in one piece with no holes. Am I missing anything? Any opinions welcome!

Send it out to get rebuilt. There have been several threads on this recommending Dewey Brake Boosters.

I'm in the UK, so that's not an option......

I guess I was expecting a big spring in there, but there wasn't one. Couldn't see any witness marks telling me there was a spring. The bolt holding the clamp together was metric, which means someone has been in there before me.

Okay, is your car a disk brake or drum setup? Can you also take better pics of the complete assy for us. Then we can suggest a few more options for you.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I know I can send the booster to the US, but if I don't need to spend money on this I'd prefer not to as there's no shortage of things that definitely do need money spending on them.

It's got drums all round.

The foam filter material has seen better days.

That's a metric bolt holding the clamp together.

IMHO.....

Consult your FSM for info on repairing the booster. You can download one at mymopar if you don't have one .

You won't be able to source parts for repair.

You have a disc brakes master cylinder .

Skimping on brake components is false economy.

I use and recommend Booster Dewey myself .

Thanks for all of the replies, guys.

I think I'll reassemble it and give it a test before deciding how to proceed.

Hey do you have any photos of how the pedal assembly etc all go together? My 69 doesn't seem to have ever had a booster and it's an upgrade I'm planning.
