    SOLD 1966 Chrysler 300 coupe

Hey guys: I have decided to sell my '66. My primary focus has remained with the A-bodies and I just don't drive it anymore. I wanted to offer it here first. This is a base 300 in Regal Blue metallic. The only options are A/C, power steering and an AM radio. Sold new in TN 12/24/65. I...

Did this starter just die on me?!

Not sure what the issue is with the OP's starter but it sounds like a weak battery or the engine is tight. I could write a book regarding the blame laid on "slow-spinning" Chrysler starters and all their alleged problems. The main problem is using a reman. I've taken several of those apart and...

    '66 300 vent window whistle

I think you all are correct. The crank has a lot of freewheel between forward and reverse. Not sure if I want to deal with this before I put it up for sale in the spring. Thanks for the help.

1966 Carter AFB starving for fuel?

Hey all: I've had a long-term issue with the carburetor on my '66 300 383, which is the original 4131S. It works perfectly "most" of the time, but it appears to run out of fuel when I am in the secondaries. I don't drive this car hard but there are times when I need the power(and other...

    '66 300 vent window whistle

Hey guys: I am having an issue with my left vent window not wanting to close tightly to the seal. I don't want to crank the handle any harder than I am. It will physically close if I push it with my fingers but it will not stay there. There is probably a 1/4 inch gap. Is there a solution...

    Chrysler Starter disassembly and refresh.

To the OP..great job! I've done several of those starters. They are always fun. The mystery wire that the OP's starter has and the second starter did not is a shunt. I'm not totally versed in electric motors either, but essentially, the shunt serves as an rpm limiter so that the starter motor...

Anybody know where to get a PS pump brass seat?

Sorry, it's for a TRW pump. This is the part. It's original part number was 1738683 but nothing comes up. The large diameter is 0.54 inch, the small diameter that is the interference fit in the pump outlet is 0.41 inch. 0.36 inches tall. Not sure what kind of fitting the later pumps utilize but...

1966 300 power to manual steering

Somebody got triggered, didn't they? Luckily I'm in an emotional happy place where I can avoid responding with insults. Hope you get there! Good old Redstone Arsenal. My father worked there starting in 1958...remember ABMA and Wernher Von Braun? J. B. Medaris? Probably not...it's a little before...

Anybody know where to get a PS pump brass seat?

This goes in the power steering pump and is what the end of the pressure line seats against. When they get deformed you have a leak that no amount of tightening resolves. I tried removing it(the FSM has the procedure) and dressing it, but only slowed it down. Thanks.

1966 300 power to manual steering

Well....I think this thread got derailed because there was a lack of distinction between a BAD idea and a DUMB idea some pages back. If Norman decided to drive his car into a tree at 40 mph to see if he survived it, I'd call that a bad idea. Putting manual steering on these cars is a DUMB idea...

1966 Chrysler left vent window is whistling

Hi there: I'm having an issue with the driver side vent window on my car. It produces a lot of wind noise because the window itself will not close completely, as if it is out of adjustment. The open/close crank does work, but there is a huge amount of slack at each end of the travel, as...

1966 Chrysler dash vents doing something odd...

Hey there: I've been driving my '66 with standard heater/AC later into the year and had to use the heater a few times. Something isn't quite right. The air temperatures out of the 2 center vents above the ash tray are distinctly different from one another. The air out of the left(driver side)...

Those of you with '65-66 300's and related....

Hey guys: I've had my '66 on the road for a year or so and have been working out some bugs along the way. I thought it might be both fun and informative to describe the issues I've had with MY car to see whether you guys have had the same things happen. 1. The worst, and still ongoing issue...

A heads-up about the repro 65-66 gas tanks...

A year or so ago I bought a new gas tank and a new sending unit for a 1965-66 C-body for Van's Auto. I have purchased many items from Van's that worked well, so this is not a bash thread. However, I had problems with these two items, enough so that I would hold off on buying either until they...

A good phenolic spacer for Carter 4299s carburetor?

I know this thread is a year old, but I am going through the same exact problem with the same exact carburetor. I kept noticing my '66 was easy to start cold, but took too long to start with it heat soaked. I parked it in the garage right after a drive, then came back out about 30 minutes later...

    Locked up electric washer motor....

I didn't know how to fix it! I didn't even have the cover off of it when I posted my question. But, I don't give up easily and everyone started talking about Certicards, so I figured I had depleted the available knowledge base. I decided to see what happened to it. That's how I fixed it. Freed...

    Locked up electric washer motor....

Redirecting this thread from "Where my Certicard might be"... lol. I decided to respectfully ignore the advice to throw the date-coded, Mopar built-in-the-USA washer pump away and tore it apart to see if i could repair it. Simple design. Motor on one end, pump on the other connected by a strip...

    Locked up electric washer motor....

Hey guys: Has anyone dealt with a seized washer pump? The electric motor part seems operable, but something is stuck elsewhere. If it went together in 1965 it can come part in 2019, but I'm open to a workaround to get it going again if you have one. Thanks!

Exhaust joint midway back...why is it there?

So my '66 300 has a very rotten single exhaust from the muffler back. I want dual exhaust if I'm going to go to the trouble of locating another reputable exhaust guy(the old one retired). The reason I'll have to find a shop here to build a system is that buying any of the three known kits for...

    Brake booster hissssssing

Hey guys..... I got my '66 300 running and driving. But I have booster problems looks like. When i step on the brake pedal, it audibly hisses inside and the idle gets ragged. Is this accepted evidence that the booster is failing? Has anyone EVER successfully tested a booster with it off the...
